Whats up with you blokes!
I knew if Dennis stopped on these threads long enough, he would end up on the āFunny Farmā, everyone knows I am a little around the bend!
But what is happened to the rest of you, have you got New Year fever? As for IOM raiseing a army, they canāt even raise the tempature of the Irish sea,
as for missiles
they are hardly out of the bow & arrow era.
They donāt need bow and arrows in the I O M Norm, they havenāt got anything to shoot at,other than moterbikes .
Cheers Dave.

The old Hippo is betterā¦
Just how much ā ā ā ā ā ā did that monster need? can I have some? Kevmac47
Iāve selected this one 'cos it was aimed for Whitehaven but Sheffield S12 is only a couple of fields away - Ashton in Makerfield and Huddersfield.
Meanwhile this one is on itās way to Jurby launch control centre from a local plantation

There are no local hostelryās here Harry, thats why we have to drink milk, but it does give you energy to face a 240 Big J .
Cheers Dave.
Well Norman said we still use bows and arrows, which may be true in the more āruralā parts of the Isle of Man but at least we have got two space stations stored in a refurbished hangar at Jurby Industrial Estate. They came from Russia and Rawcliffes pulled one off the ferry and a local operator,JCK Ltd,the other.
Photos courtesy of a local IOM photographer - amadeusphotography.com
They are owned by an IOM company called Excalibur Almaz and are here for research and development purposes. The company deals in space exploration and tourism, but it doesnāt say if they are to be launched from Jurby,Iāll let you know.
So there you are,we are way ahead of you lot in the UK and better shots with bows and arrows as well.
hiya,
Chris do they still hold the annual wellie throwing contest in Sheffield ā ā that could be lethal in the wrong hands you should incorporate it into the IOM defenceās, it would put the fear of God up the tourists.
thanks harry long retired
Chris coming over to stock up with wellies Harry.
Cheers Dave

Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Right education time, if you stand at the a""e end thats āasternā and look towards the sharp end thats āforwardā pronounced forard the piece of ship on your on your left side is the port side and the piece of ship on your right side is the starboard side now iāve educated you you could get yourself a job in the mercantile marine, now āsplice the mainbraceā that means have a tot of rum, now areānt i a mine of useless information.
thanks harry long retired.
Donāt know a lot about boats or ships Harry.I think we took this picture of the lifeboat in Whitby in 2008.I like looking around harbours and dockyards, always find them fascinating places. You being a Navy man will be well used to them.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Dave never been a navy man, but members of the family father included messed about in boats, but on a couple of occasions when taking a break from driving in the early 60s did help crew a trawler for two or three trips fishing off Iceland out of the west of Ireland the owners was relatives of my girlfriend at that time and i may add it was some of the best wages iāve ever earned, often wished iād done the job on a full time basis was offered a permanent job as crew but the young lady and myself parted company and it was all my fault pastures new and all that so i wasānt very welcome anymore, but i was single so i forgave myself. ah well.
thanks harry long retired.

Beg your pardon there Harry, must have got you and Norm mixed up.Norm must have been in the Navy.I remember you saying about your time in the Army, probably wrong about Norm being in the Navy,he will put me right Iām sure.
I always like watching the programs on TV about the trawlerās,looks a very rough and demanding job,no room for error.I would like someday to go up to the East coast of Scotland to see the big trawlers, have been to Fleetwood years ago when they had a big fishing fleet, but when I had a ride by there a couple of years ago, they had mostly gone.Still see a few big fishing boats coming into Milford Haven now and again, but I donāt get down that way as much as I used to.
Cheers Dave.
we spend our holidays near kinlochbervie dave , a big fishing port . when i see the number of memorials to lost crews they have my respect and admiration . also makes me glad i was a lorry driver & not a sailor cheers , dave
