EGR engines have DPFs too. Fact is all modern engines have oil and fuel at higher pressures than those of 10 years or more ago, and operate at higher temperatures.
This is mostly in the interests of fuel economy, but it does make them more likely to catch fire.
Modern fuel injection can reach pressures of 2500 bar!
