Nomination for tightest bay ..

ezydriver:
Another crap yard, Howard Smith paper on Brackmills ind est, Northampton. Especially in the evening.

What is the problem with this yard? I do it regular.

B&Q at Grantham has to be one of the tightest i have ever seen.

You reverse in to a very dark bay with about 3" to spare each side of the trailer, you need to unclip your curtains before you go in and with them flapping about it can be a nightmare.

Its just crap. You turn up at 7 pm, the yard is full of rigids, theres nowhere to turn around, you need the bottom bay. You can get on the bay, its just a bit short of room. Horrible yard.

The coffee place at Banbury,it fits where it touches and sometimes you can’t even get your poles out!

Theres a groupage house in Barcelona ( I can’t just remember what they were called, someone will prob remind me) On friday afternoons when half the world was in there trying to get loaded and away and all the bays were busy it was a complete nightmare.

The yard was too busy to turn onto the good side so it was a blind side jackknife with a foot either side of the trailer. Mostly the guys would help but if not it was a foot at a time and keep bobbing in and out of the cab. Oh for a rear window in those situations.

Hers the view in the mirror at TDG Grantham.

Sorry about the quality they were taken on my phone.

You actually have about 2/3 " each side when you back in.

The first photo looks like you’ve got about 2 foot of room.
The bottom photo looks like you’ve got about a foot.
Wossa matter wiv ya? They’ve had bigger than that in there drive.

I think that the Parceline depot at Smethwick was the tightest place I’ve been to. I had a 45ft container on and with both doors open and fastened back I still scraped the Parceline boxes on either side of the bay I was on as I backed on :unamused:

HOW? I worked for Geopost as a Linehaul driver and was there 5 nights a week for a year. THere’s loads of room.

Did you go in the daytime or at night because if you went in the daytime, that’s nothing compared to between 10pm-2am.

Was told to go on bay on far (?) side of warehouse. When I got there there was only the one bay free. All the Parceline trailers had roller shutter doors so were parked with just enough space in between for a cats ■■■■ hair to get in. This was about 5 years ago and I was there at 6am and the place was chocker :unamused:

Theres loadsa room at HSP, it can be a little bit tight if there are trucks parked oppostie but nothing serious.

Any of the international drivers on here ever done Hangers Groupage House in Basel, Swiss, Round behind the football stadium in the railway siding. Now that was tight on a friday night when there were trucks on the bays either side.

Done TDG at Grantham, and also the one at Purfleet, which is a similar set-up, but the worst one I go to now is Tesco, Welham Green, due to the fact that with the Tesco trailers parked opposite the bays, there is very little room to manouevre. Woolies at Rochdale and Swindon are a doddle these days, as they only use half the bays (that end bay near the old gatehouse used to be a pig, though, before this happened  )

Tesco Welham Green, i saw a Dutch driver in there one day in a left ■■■■■■, he looked at the bay and said no problem to blindside it on the bay. Me and the other drivers were taking bets as to how many shunts. He put it on in one, blindside and went off with a smug grin on his face. Impressive bit of reversing though!

This is the worst I’ve had to do. It doesn’t look too bad on the photo, but the bad bays are opposite the truck parked on its own, not the ones which have trailers in. Try to get on a bay between two trailers there, and it’s rather hard work…

Oh, and it’s British Bakeries Forest Gate, BTW. The first place I was sent after passing my C+E… :unamused:

Wincanton Matalan Avonmouth isn’t exactly spacious either - all the bays are parallel to the building as there isn’t enough room to make them perpendicular, and they park trucks all the way around the outside, so you have to watch the corners of the trailer so they don’t hit something on the swing.

Mr Fibble what about…A Russian car Ferry up a slippy ramp with an inch on one side and the ship doors on the other while trying to line with the anchorage marknigs, while being given direction in Russian

Guess that can;t be called a bay… though get it wrong and your in the Bay

They’re registered in Luxembourg, not Russia. Although Dennis’ reversing was rather impressive, I’d have to admit.

At least next time I’ll know that I have to aim to be outside the bay markings…

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: y6ou trolley drivers dont know whats tight untill you’ve delivered to building sites :imp:
