No Pleasing Some People

Just got to keep yourself to yourself.

One of the things that working in the transport office has taught me is that most (not all) drivers are a bunch of old women who’d sooner moan than eat their dinners. I see the day drivers when they come in in the morning, just before I go home, and with a couple of honourable exceptions, they’ve always - always - got to have half an hour’s moaning about their day’s work before they can get going. My favourite so far is the bloke who came into the office, took one look at his run sheet and said “they’re taking the ■■■■ ing ■■■■. There’s a full day’s work here!”
I wouldn’t mind, but where I work there are no early starts - 6 am is as early as anyone ever has to get in - no shifts longer than about 12 hours at the very most (usually more like 10), no weekend work (other than a rare shift at overtime rates), no nights out and no clambering about on the load trying to secure it. And all with clean kit in reasonable condition … honestly, if some of these people had to do some of the general haulage jobs I’ve done over the years they really would have something to whinge about. Some drivers need to learn to count their blessings.

This is not aimed at the OP, by the way, more his colleagues.
