I thought that I’d embrace this whole EV malarkey and try to get my grandson interested in them, after all he’s the future of these things.

A record number of electric cars were sold in the UK in 2024 which now means the UK surpasses Germany to become Europe’s largest EV market.

Nah, BYD’s new blade batteries have an LFP chemistry & are safe compared to NMC chemistry batteries. Most battery manufacturers are using LFP nowadays.
The Mach e Mustang EV is now outselling the ICE Mustang by a ratio of 8 to 1, One dipstick was bemoaning the range of the Mach e against the V8 Mustang, too dim to find out for himself that the Mach e EV has a longer range than the V8 ICE model lol.
Even Rolls-Royce are spending, £300million expanding their UK Goodwood plant as their new Sceptre EV has proved more popular than expected.
Well well well!, Murdoch owned ‘The Times’ has finally been found to be printing FUD about Electric cars & been forced to correct its blatant lies about BEV demand. Claiming sales had fallen when the exact opposite was happening.

British Gas has given me a 24-hour notice of the first PeakSave Green Flex event of 2025 tomorrow with half price electricity between 12:30-14:30, We’ve had two days of sunshine & there’s an excess of renewable energy on tap. 
I’ll get all the bedding done & put the car on charge to top up, winner winner chicken dinner. 
The increase in charge rates is amazing.

We’ve looked at electric cars lately , even went to the Ford garage , the Mach e is nice but I’m sorry it is no way comparable to a v8 mustang , salesman started one up for the wife , she ( + me ) lost total interest in electric cars after hearing it ,
I keep trying to convince myself it’s not a sensible retirement car when you should be tightening the belt with retirement looming , but bloody hell would I enjoy driving it ,I wouldn’t get the same pleasure from a ev .

exactly. in a typical wagon, we’re not exactly fast 0 to 30 let alone to 56mph, even if we don’t have squishy cargo. So pulling out at some roundabouts is already difficult, with some cars taking less than 2 seconds to close the gap from standing.
Maybe roundabouts have had their day and need retiring as is.

I should imagine Tesla prices will fall even more shortly with the backlash against Muskrat, lots of people not buying them globally & they’re trading them in for different EV brands.
Agree about the Mach-e, it should never have been called a Mustang, same goes for the new Dodge Charger EV, The muscle car men are not happy. Mind you they’ve got more to worry about as Stellantis considers offloading certain brands.
Maserati is facing the chop, with talks already in progress to sell to a Chinese conglomerate, Can you imagine the uproar from the USA if Dodge went the same way.
Some Chinese BEV manufacturers (NIO in particular) are switching to By-Wire technology to speed up the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs)
They’re moving away from mechanical braking and steering systems without a direct mechanical connection or system fluids.
what was that film where someone took control of some blokes car remotely. Sent him using the satnav to a deserted gang area. Then stopped his car from working. All to get a gang to kill him.
If the terminator wants to kill us, we’re giving it loads of means to do so.

Yeah, I think I’d be sceptical about handing over so much trust in software instead of nuts, bolts & fluids. It’s the only thing all car owners have known since day one.
