Like most people on here I just repeat what I have been told by the "Professionals"so its probably a load of bull, All I know ,If I only work 3 days a week I pay less tax over all.
Of course you pay less tax - you don’t earn as much, so there’s less income to pay tax on!
You quite clearly stated that you pay tax at 40% (i.e. higher rate) because you are on a pension. My point is that you pay 40% tax not because you have pension income but because your income is more than £45k p.a.
If your “professionals” are telling you otherwise then they are lying.
