Ched:
No, I promise I’m not trolling. It’s unatural. We have evolved over millions of years to be day time creatures.
No we’re not.
The human eye has more rods (120 million) than cones (7 million) in the retina. Cones are used for colour and therefore day-time vision and rods are for night-time vision.
Sorry to say this mate, but that has to be one of the most retarded things I’ve seen on these forums for a long time
Ched:
Witnessing some of the most spectacular sun rises every day during the summer.
+1
…and shooting stars. Before I worked nights, I’d seen two shooting stars in my enitire lifetime. Since I started working nights, I’ve seen [zb] loads, and a fireball.
I find the Nightshift attracts the flappers, the guys that cant cope wae the graft on days
Pros
you never need to change another bulb, this seems to be a general rule amongst you night folk
you never need to clean your wagon as the day man will clean it
you can leave coffee stains over the engine hump to your hearts content as the day man will clean it
you can talk to your imaginary friend without anyone seeing
nobody sees the damage you do to trailers
Less likley to get youtubed when you get stuck, cause you’ve flapped when the only road you know is closed
Cons
The suicide jumpers are harder to spot and thus harder to avoid, although this could also be a Pro!
The deer like to play tig with you
greggs is closed
you come into the depot saying ‘‘white lines white lines’’ with a strange homicidal look on your face

Another pro … Witnessing some of the most spectacular sun rises every day during the summer. Also, it’s never too hot during the summer when you work nights. .
Totally agree with this used to love heading west in the evening to see the sun go down and some of the sunrises I have seen whilst driving back east across an empty M62 have been simply stunning!

Biggest load of bs I’ve ever heard. I just hope this is tongue in cheek and I’ve missed it cos I’ve had too much beer after watching England beat France at Twickenham
I work shifts that suit the requirements, and must admit I prefer my 12/13 hour shifts that start at 6 or 8pm to the ones that start at 3 or 5am.
They seem much kinder on my personal ‘body clock’
Big Truck:
You ever drive down the motorway from one end to the other and NOT remember doing it
That’s me most nights
Had that experience a few times, usually when im listening to a CD while driving. As soon as it gets halfway through track 1 for the second time I think ‘■■■■, I don’t remember listening to that’. Have been from j25 M25 to j9 M23 and not remembered a single bit of the journey.
I have worked regular nights for almost 15 years mostly trunking work to and for major supermarkets. I have, for the last 6 year been workimg for a family owned general haulage company trunking to their Birmimgham, Manchester and occaisionally Wishaw depots. I recently went on regular days doing Class 1 multi drop work. I am now back on nights! So to your OP the pro’s are: no hassle from the Traffic Office chasing timed deliveries, no being told to collect 15 tonnes from your next delivery point when you still have 15 tonnes or more still to deliver, to maybe 6 other drops, thus leaving you with said collection on the back end of the trailer. You also get to listen to best hours of Radio 2’s broadcasts!
TTX boy:
people that work nights often die about 5 years before day workers,it’s just not natural for a human being to be awake at night.
Why not? once the process of waking and sleeping is adjusted there’s no difference, just means instead of being asleep at midnight you are asleep midday, a 12 hour adjustment. When I went to Australia I didn’t sleep all day because it was night time in the UK, just a case of re- establishing your body clock.
The only thing i have against night driving is the road closures .Nearly had a bloody heart attack the last time i was diverted off the A1 at the length of the diversion

Lol, that wouldn’t be the diversion that takes you through the centre of Melton would it??
