The Blue Scania with the Aerodyne roof…

When I first saw it, wewere at a truck/racing, twas on a Scania stand i believe, white leather interior etc.
Next saw it coming into Kemsley Paper Mill (Nr Sittingbourne, Kent) always seemed to pull in overweight :unamused: Seem to remember this had a sink in it as well??

Saw it again a few years later and it had been sretched into a recovery truck and been resprayed, was with Halls Recovery on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent at the time, believe Tony Halls sold it to NYK recovery in Snodland, by this time it was showing its age with some rusty bodywork, since then I think its gone to the great Scania resting place in the sky…

Is this Ex Nellen & Quack(could have been current N&Q when it was taken)

I took the photo at Dawson group leighton buzzard 1986-ish i think it was still with them.

That N&Q Volvo looks like it started life with Peter Roff.

Great pictures Nicholas  Can you or anybody tell me if this was taken at Bert Hinchcliife’s old yard at Shuttleworth near Ramsbottom on the old A56 in Lancashire. I seem to remember an old transport cafe at the front which might be the white building.

Following on with the blue aerodyne Scania, I think that after Dave Miller finished with it, it went to a Norfolk O/D who may have been called Oscar Fuller ■■ and who pulled for Transam Trucking among others.

I know it ended up with NY Towing, was it one of their’s that was burnt in their fire and then rebuilt.

I seem to recall it might have been called Phoenix what do you know?

Here’s some more of my photo’s. In 1980 i started with British Aerospace as an apprentice aircraft mechanic, i was more interested in the transport dept. as you can see!! The Letland fleet was being replaced by Ford Cargos.

These were part of the site services dept. they also had there own dust cart and 2 man crew full time.

I eventually worked in the flight test dept. who still ran these tankers! They were still there till the Hatfield site closed in the 90’s. The AEC was badged as a Mandator and the Leyland as a Hippo. Ted Sands was the Flight Test driver and let me have a drive when i got my hgv, There was no power steering and i could hardly move the clutches. just before i left a brand new Volvo FL7 tanker came as Volvo were the only ones interested in supplying tanker refuelers!!

Nicholas, I dont know if its the same one, but in this months (November)Heritage Commercials magazine theres a picture of an AEC Mandator refueller which has been restored which looks identical to the one in your picture! but the registration number is VAM116D and the caption says it is a 1966 ex Royal Navy refuelling tanker owned by Den Strickland of Bruton

This is BWL 370Y ex Peter Roff. Colin Field (Luton) had one or two old Roffy trucks. He bought this one and ran it for a while in Roffy’s livery before repainting it and running it for N&Q.

I know this isnt strictly the right thread, but here’s a couple of pics of it for Buzzard Boy and Nicholas.

Oh look ! A very young TruckerAsh   Washing again! Dussledorf.

Hi folks, i hope you like my photo’s, I remember Peter Roff now! i had fogot all about him, was he based in Leighton Buzzard? It was nice to see the N&Q volvo with a trailer on, I took the photo as i swaped trucks at Dawson group one evening and i liked the colour’s.
regards from Nicholas.
