Newbie requiring practical Class II exam advise

Well done …see…all those doubts were all for nothing…

heh heh…just teasing…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Nice one, I too did mine with 9 minors on the first go. Once you make that first mistake and get the clipboard open it starts to go downhill slightly form there.

What was the examiners name?

8wheels:
What was the examiners name?

The examiners name was Colin - he is apparently the senior examiner at the centre and the most difficult one to please.

Mark

You did well then, I remember being told there was one there.

Well done Mark, pleased for you.

Well done Masrk. Many congratulations.
Nice to see that the dreaded ‘Guardian of Chelmsford’, Mr Orange gives out pass slips now and again !

Colin Orange, I remember the name now.

I didn’t get him but heard about his reputation.

Wont give my opinion on here - fear of being sued!

Lol Mothertrucker,

there are definately a few jobsworths in all the centre’s but on the whole they are fair IMO and at least we have drivers that can handle a truck around corners etc. and not just on dual carriage ways from the eastern block.

Bitchy I know but, as some are good but the majority wouldn’t stand any chance of passing a VOSA test, i think we have all met the numpty’s who can’t even hook up let alone drive.

there are definately a few jobsworths in all the centre’s

Yes I agree - and with your other comments too.
There has to be some kind of standard that has to be adhered to, but my objection is with examiners who move the goalposts so to speak and the fact that we have to tell trainees - If you get examiner A then get your foot down and give him a brisk drive, but if you get examiner B then he is only interested in mirrors and examiner C likes… you get what I mean.
I think it should be standard across the board and not just the examiners personal taste that dictates whether the driver is fit to be let loose or not.
Example:- I had one very good driver who took his test at a test centre I do not often use. He came back with two minors (two!) and a fail.
When asked what the fail was for it was because he had released the handbrake before signalling when turning right back into the test centre.
The driver explained that as there was no oncoming traffic at all and nothing coming up behind (it is a very quiet road there) then he felt there was no need to signal at all but decided to in the end - and got a fail on that. Now I don’t know about you but I thought that was not only harsh but flaming disgusting!
If he had racked up over 12 minors then yes ok I could have lived with it but two!
I had another good driver fail at that centre with the same examiner who brought him back with only one minor and a fail, yet he lets them slip through with 14 minors and no serious. There is no working out the mans’ thinking.

congrats on passing mate

Mothertrucker,

again your words speak experience

I had one guy scrub a notorious curb in kent that has now been taken off the route(first corner on the test I might add) he then came back with 1 minor. But its a fail the rain was hammering it down so mirror visibility was very reduced and on an extremely tight bed (not right angle it comes back 30degs after the corner) some common sense has to prevail. No offence to those who pass with 9-11 minors as thats the game. but this fella deserved to pass and did next time with 1 minor and now drives a Magnum for me(no mirrors scrapes or WTD issues in a year. Go figure

By the way loved your little excert on the website and will be buying a copy to read, any recent international trips on the cards where in north london are you from I hail from freezywater in enfield but based in Kent now,. Well off to Ivrea in 2 hours(Tattybye family :frowning: ) with machine parts and back with god knows whatever from Turino.
