From the Alan Sturge collection of photos. The Wellington pub might give a clue as to where.
Just thinking back that was a shot I took in the mill at Beetham and that was the third new Borderer which had just arrived back from it’s first round trip to London. The two lifts of pulp at the front were a balance from a previous consignment and it was the heavier American grade probably Prince George and the rear 80 bales were lighter Swedish pulp .
What a picture ![]()
Waiting, waiting…
I think some of you just put crappy shots like that on to rattle my cage you F—– masochists but it may be for someone else who might have an opposite opinion than me and thinks there’s nothing wrong with it ! Bollox it’s a F— disgrace and the Driver should be ashamed of himself – he is a right Banker in my opinion ! Wouldn’t pay the useless C— with middles out of Polo Mints !
Could you not have photo shopped the ERF into Bewick colours? That would have been much more fun, you missed a trick there whisperingsmith.
Sorry Dennis, but that would have been hilarious. ![]()
In fairness, the poor beggar probably didn’t expect some busybody, with a drone to take his picture.
I don’t know if it’s relevant but I’m hearing on the news about a major medical emergency alert in Cumbria.

Nice bit of crossloading though!
Thinking back many years into the 80’s we did have an ERF unit identical to that one which I bought off Curly Cargill for a local Shunter and if you could photo shop BEWICK in black across the front of that unit it would be identical to the one we had.
Surrey County Council yard, by any chance? ![]()
Just chuck a net over it, will be fine!
