New one for me, (VOSA)

Did a bit of digging…

Story goes… Driver was ‘followed’ into yard, VOSA asked to see said vehicle - spotted the O licence was NOT displayed! This vehicle was taken off the road a few months ago to be sold, but was then put back on because we became busy and needed an extra vehicle for a while.

Also told, another vehicle kept getting 'too many PG9’s ’

But followed? Sounds like they were on thier way to see us anyway. The guy was in a suit, not the usual chequered vehicle etc.

And, you guessed it - vehicle checks. :unamused:

It’s not a case of having anything to hide. I don’t have any fiddles going on with my electric meter, but I wouldn’t want the leccy man pounding on my door at silly o’clock demanding his right to inspect it.
I had a similar thing with a planning officer who was a complete ■■■■■■ and when I put in for some planning he decided to come and measure up at 10.30 at night, lurking around my house/premises. Unfortunately for him, I have beams that activate the CCTV onto the TV.

Neaver heard of a planning official coming to measure up at 10:30 he must have been taking the ■■■■ surly? :smiling_imp:
Are you sure it really was a planning official? we had someone come round claiming to want to read the gas meater at the time we didnt even have gas in the road, shortly after a shead got broken into

Yes mate, he was definitely from the planning dept, but was actually the enforcement officer. I knew that before I belted him, but obviously didn’t admit to that. Obnoxious git who took his job very seriously and had informed me he was going to not only block my planning application to extend the place, but because I was working on race machines not just road cars, he was going to close me down irrespective of the fact that all the neighbours wanted the garage to continue. He was measuring the big American caravan i had parked in the yard as he thought it was too big to be towed and therefore was a permanent fixture. He ended up getting sent down for kiddy-fiddling. Hope he got his last ever breath kicked out of him in there!

It got worse today!

Any chains, be it lifting or lashing chains, have to be stowed away into a box or, if they are on the bed of the truck and not in use, they have to be strapped down! :imp:

Goes down as an ‘insecure load’.

6 points and a mega fine for the driver. Is this right/true

Not sure why people thing chains shouldnt be secured when not being used, its fairly obvious that sooner or later they will slide off

I wouldn’t expect 6 points and a mega fine unless the ‘load’ had left the vehicle and injured or killed someone.

VOSA’s current remit appears to be to prohibit the vehicle until the load is secured or advise accordingly if the driver has the means with him to secure the load. Obviously their advise has been to box it or strap it - makes sense.

I too can’t understand why anyone would just throw chains etc into the middle of a flat bed … where’s the sense in that?
