New life on the buses

Can you not alter the bus like the banger racing lads used to do with the coaches. Have a ramp at the back and put the A class inside. depends where the engine is i suppose. If you could get it inside it would be safer and easier to manoevre.
bit like this one…

Toowise, the engines upright accross the back me thinks on those old buses.

Marlow good on yer mate. I can see that is going to finish up a very nice comfortable home.

6 mpg? A higher ratio diff to increase top speed might improve that aswell?

Pot belly is great but picking up a night heater from a truck breakers might be an idea?

If you were to level that downstairs floor off with the central walkway using studding & chip board, you could then insulate under it & run any services.

I’ve often thought of the idea of turning an old railway carriage into a home. Infact I was only doodling layout plans last week.

Oh… and learn to spell your engine.

More ideas:

Would require some thinking and research of how to do it: using the pot belly chimney to create a heat exchanger to heat water.

Solar panels on the roof to charge a battery bank.

See the link in my signature for encouragement to visit Scotland… though you won’t get down some of the roads I did.

First of all driver 1 sorry about the spelling, I’ve aways got away with it via Microsoft word but only have blackberry with internet acsess as yet

I’d love to show photos but struggling with the blackberry except on Facebook.

The ideas with the batterys are already in place, I have 4 110ah lesure batteries that will be both solar and wind charged

As has been said the engines at the back of the bus, also what I term as the shed fills the rear 8’ of the lower deck, this will house mainley water, the back axle weighs off at 6’300kg with seats so I’m hoping to carry 3000 l of water so that I can make the bus self sufficient for 6 weeks at a time. I tried to think of little things like fitting an urinal in the bathroom will mean I can cut my black waste by 70%.

At the moment I have a 2.7W genny but when the kitchen is fitted ill need more power to run the dishwasher and washing machine. Too solve this I intend to fit a reefer unit to the front above the windsreen. Not only will this provide the ultimate air conditioning unit but the engine will power a bigger genny.

Use of night heaters has been limited to heating water, the hole under the steps will be sealed and a night heater will be feed in. Inside a 20 gallon tank will be suspended to provide water for the shower and also heat the bus.

Where did you get 6mpg from? I brought it 62 miles from hull to Brighouse and after briming the tanks at Paul then again at service garage at Brighouse and it did 17 mpg

Ill call home soon and post some pics but in the mean time look on my Facebook Phil Jeffcock

Dishwasher  :open_mouth:  Necessary?

17mpg. I’m amazed. Some struggle to get that from a 7.5 tonner. No doubt you will check again in the future to confirm.

Sounds like you have it fairly well thought out.

If you can get a towbar, and trailer, it may help to make it look more authentic with a Barber Greene behind it.

Tarmac yer drive squire? :stuck_out_tongue:

… and once its down: No, no sir, that price I give ya was per square metre, not for the whole job.

OP, technically your A series needs to be braked when on tow, but given the size of the towing vehicle you might get away with it. Obviously lights will have to plug in … and if directly, a 24-12v reducer.
