will it also mean the warning stickers on the back of trailers will now read "if you can’t see my camera’s, I can’t see you " ?
roughyed:
if the camera mirror turns off whilst the keys are out of the ignition, then how are you supposed to see what the loading bay lights are showing if you’re on a back end tip ?
You can turn the mirrors ‘on’ with a flick of a switch…even from the bunk, if the ignition is off.
It’s one of those stupid keyless ignitions though, so you can lose the key even when you are driving. Or drive off, then realise you left the key on top of the diesel pump back at base.

Replaced one blind spot, the mirrors with another blind spot I’m not likely to be driving one anytime soon as we have the entry level Actros, so I cant say until that day. However I will gurantee one thing, there will be at leat one major issue as with nearly all Mercs since time immimorial
The gearbox, works perfectly well until you need it most then proceeds to play random tunes.
The steering will pull violently to the left to the point where steering with one hand becomes un comfortable.
Performance, Ignore the badge on the door the thing sees a hill in the distance and slows down I have been passed by a tractor on the A30.
Ride quality, The lower you go down the range the worse it gets, Very similar to a Seddon Atkinson except the Atki steered straight and had a bit of go in comparison, don’t drive with your thumbs under the bar on the steering wheel one good pot hole will likely see them dislocated.
And another thing why 8 cup holders, the ergonomics of the cabs are good and generally well put together they look quite good and are generally reliable and the new ones are excellent on fuel has anyone else got a unit with 8 cup holders it baffles me.
What I found after driving one…well, three actually:
I liked the ‘mirrors’…they worked well on a bright, sunny day with sharp shadows. The trailer tracking feature is brilliant.
Gearbox seemed much improved…I think it was the addition of a Scania-like automatic park brake. The truck now seems to ‘know’ if it is moving or stopped.
Steering…the trucks were all LHD 4x2 tractors, but it seemed good. It’s a new Bosch ServoSteer electric hydraulic system.
Springs…I was assured that the single-leaf front option is no longer listed. Ride seemed OK.
What let it down, in my opinion was that even the gigaspace cab was a bit cheap inside. No proper mattress for a start. No where near as good as a DAF XF SSC…and completely lacking any kind of ‘wow’ factor. A very lacklustre thing compared to a Scania S series V8 interior for sure, which seemed to be made by Bentley. This was more like a Dacia.

When I complained about the Inhumane ride on mine, and enquired after retrofitting cab air bags, mercedes recommendation was to change front springs TO mono leaf.
As I have said in the past, this has improved it a lot.
The ride that is.
Would I buy another?
No.g
Whats it like drive at night with a huge lit up screen in your face?
It’s bad enough with the fors camera screen and eco driving monitor shining at you
