Never happy...but really

It makes me laugh when I read about people moaning about an Axor or the current hatred towards Scanias, when I first started nights out I had a V reg day cab Sudden Accident 400 and most of the nights out were because the poxy thing was so slow it couldn’t make it there and back in a day! I had a mattress off a bunk bed that folded in half bridged the gap between the seats, curtains were home made fixed to hooks in the corners and the night heater was an extra pair of socks and a woolly hat.

I started going abroad in a 2800 Daf, then got a brand new Merc, not much bigger than an F88 cab and I used to be away 6 weeks or more too, doing anything in the cab was a major operation, whatever I wanted was always under something else as getting everything I needed in the cab was kind of like a big Chinese puzzle.

If somebody had told me you could get a lorry in the future with a 400hp plus engine and an air conditioned cab you could stand up in just to do day work I would’ve said you were a nutter!

I have dug thus out again

Well I finished 4 days (2 nights) 56 hours (my choice before Gestapo start) in the lovely FH500. An absolute pleasure. I can’t think of one thing that I would change.
