I’ve got a Renault Premium and I don’t have any of the issues raised by the OP.
I must apologise that this thread does not meet your strict criteria which constitutes a worthy thread, I was merely commenting that in my opinion, from my point of view the narrow cabs have a slightly poorer field of visibility, maybe next time I’ll adjust them whilst sitting on a high horse as everything seems better from up there
definitely a prime candidate for my …most boring post, ever section… how bad is this one■■?
Thank you
I liked juddians contribution. So call me mad. Even though that’s not my name.
Nowt to do with mirror vision (I was on rigids so didn’t need them! ) but after 13+ years in a full width cab I found myself hugging the white line for a while when I got my 3000 series narrow cabbed Foden, seemed strange at first sitting nearer the centre of the truck!
Pete.

I got a Bedford KM as punishment duty and after the 111 that preceded it I did the same. Sitting inboard a foot or more really changes your perspective.
Had it the other way around when I served my sentence and got my Scania back, but I could live with that
Hiya…your talking back to front (said in a nice way) cabs was all narrow until lorry manufactures
started making the wide jobs…if you look back some early ERF KV,s was full width cabs BUT the
track was only 7ft6 back then. until the weights changed the truck makes started using the wide
axles(1968ish). the narrow cab was still used but a 4 inch mudguard appeared. going back quite a
few years furniture removal vans, they
had a full with cab integral with the body, these always looked unsafe as the track (7ft6) looked to
narrow for the body…Foden come up with the S80 full width cab and Scania with the 110. Volvo,s f88 was
still quite narrow until the F10 appeared. Mercedes used a narrow cab but come up with a full width
cab in about 1983. merc still use the same cab for the full range of trucks so some operators choose
the narrow cab(ridged)on there artic range…on the Bedford TK /KM cabs. this cab fitted all the Bedford
range . the 3 ton lorry with a 6ft axle had no mudguards. the 8 tonner with the 6 ft axle but a wider wheel
a had a very narrow wing the 14 ton TK had the same wing but the Km with the wide axle and larger wheel for
16 tons had the very wide mudguards but still used the same cab as the 3 tone lorry. many cabs was full width
its just the axles got wider and the cabs have now followed.
