what did you say to me , dont matter as long as it gets in without damaging owt , did my first blindside the other day and i know what you mean about losing site of the trailer you need jedi powers to know where it is , just get out an have alook , you know from some of the answers on here that drivers who have been at it for years hate a blindside rev , your doing great keep it up
jenx
I can never take my own advice lol
Getting out and having a look means I have to look at all those people watching not willing to help
If you have electric mirrors you can move them out to get a view of the trailer for a bit longer
Yep. Got electric mirrors. Done that too lol
You know what sounds like you did fantastic not sure get out and luck remember people looking at you because your checking is not as bad as explaining to an irate transport manager because you’ve damaged the trailer first job i did was take a trailer to the docks reverse in to a small space between two trailers after about 20 shunts Managed to do do it sweat pouring off me because i had 3shunters waiting to load the boat and couldn’t get past but what the hell something i have learned is not to put full lock on when reversing in tight spaces been doin this job for six months now and still scares the hell out of me reversing so don’t worry will get easier.
Week 3 begins with a Wagon and Drag outfit. Hookloader on the back of the Prime Mover. Reverse it up to the rear of the trailer to hook the other skip off. Novel idea but it works.

Off to a drop off in Rushden. Not the easiest of access. In fact tight enough to just get a ■■■ paper down each side of the lorry.
Hi Dar,
Is that firm you work for anything to do with Walkers ? ( similar colour trucks and scania’s)
what were you carrying today then ? i drive an eight wheeler hooklift but no drag could do with one sometimes
enjoying the updates ,
cheers Mike
Yes Mikey it is a sister company of Walkers.
I was carrying PVC window frames.
Pig of a trailer to connect up. Not as easy as the training trailer.
All good fun.
its annoying isn’t it, seems like your taking forever, you watch other drivers nail it quickly and start putting yourself down. truth is everyone struggles with something new, i bet those same drivers struggled at first and i bet they only got that good by doing it all the time, don’t stress it mate,
i had one the other day at bournemouth BIC. reverse downhill around a corner underground through a service area and then up a ramp to the left. i have done similar first time before but this one just phased me, it was dark, raining and mirrors were flaring at bright lights, but i got it in, the key was i didn’t flap i didn’t panic i just thought, right its got to go in there, no one else is going to do it, so i will do this at my own pace and do it right, i got a bit close to a few walls, suffered with wheelspin thanks to a stupid auto box and slippery surface but it went in.
i often come across reverses like this and after each one my confidence builds, and more often then not i can approach a really tough reverse and think, “no worries” i got in to that ■■■■■■■ reverse the other day, i can do this!
positive mental attitude is the first step, don’t think of yourself as a newbie and you won’t be a newbie! you have a class one license now
From reading your posts you seem very comfortable with the kit.
Personally I over analysed everything on my first artic job, even to the point I used my iPad and google street view turn by turn etc…
Got to my drop and was really worried about the reversing, just pure luck I nailed it first time, now every time I reverse I feel ffffffing great and learn a little more…
Best of luck and keep us up dated.
never a bad thing to get a route plan ,and scope out the drop i do it all the time, but you can always over analyse things. i have checked out google earth before now and ■■■■ myself at the sight of some places. but then you get there and it all looks a lot bigger ,clearer and easier
Out in the T Cab up to Liverpool tomorrow.
Keep your eyes peeled and give us a wave.

Hmm. Looks an interesting drive Dar!
You must be doing well if they let you out in the T

Doesn’t look as well maintained as your average t
It seems you are getting a good variety of trucks to drive , all good experience
will you get a regular truck sometime ?
id love to be let loose with a T cab
cheers Mike
Its a lovely truck to drive. And for all it’s footprint, it has a fantastic turning circle. The paint has faded a bit, but the inside is immaculate
Yes I am getting good experience with plenty of different trucks. I still look for the range change when I get to 4th gear in the car

or even better when the ball and chain says wot you doing
