It was my wife’s idea honest!
So not much has happened recently but Today is the day for my Theory, Hazard perception and Mod 2. Going to be a long afternoon! Looking forward to doing them and praying I’ve done enough practise!
best of luck its easy you will smash it mate
Well that was simple!
All 3 done and dusted in 1 hour. Thankfully they were able to let me do 1 after the other rather than waiting for the proper booked times. Was funny having to get up at the end of each test and then sign back in 3 times. Think they’ve seen my license more than I have!
96 on multi choice
84 on Hazard Perception
46 on Mod 2
Worst mod 2 score I’ve gotten since practising but a pass is a pass. Just the driving bit to do now!! Roll on 14th October, can’t wait!
haha that was what i was like, I bet they was glad to get me out of there lol, Well done mate great work now the training and test to follow!

I’m just glad they let me go straight on to the next one or it was going to be one boring afternoon!!
I found the case studies on the Mod 2 to be a bit daft really. Everyone seemed to have had extra special fuel saving training and for everyone it was ■■■■■■■ it down!
The woman watching everyone was a little shocked when I came out of the multi choice in around 15 minutes, I think secretly she thought I’d ■■■■■■ it up !
Knew I was more than ready and capable to pass but was still nervous going into it knowing it could cause a setback.
For anyone wondering what practise material is any good the driving theory 4 all which is included in the Peter Smythe starter pack was great. Helped me track my progress etc and allowed me to do it on my mobile when out and about as well, providing you use the chrome browser if on iOS or it won’t work
So Today I have gotten my Mod 4 date of 22nd October. Feels like forever until my C training and then the Mod 4 straight after. Getting more and more nervous by the day! And a little excited!
Well done passing the theory tests. Your write up was a perfect demonstration of the value in visiting the training centre before parting with your hard earned. Normally, this doesn’t work for our residential customers who come from all over the UK (one passed from Essex today) but they book on rock solid recommendation.
There are so many differences between trainers it must be a nightmare for anyone trying to choose. But anyone is welcome to visit us anytime between 7.30am and 6pm (no appointment needed) and a member of staff will be pleased to discuss training requirements and give a tour of the training centre, vehicles and facilities.
It’s frankly beyond me why anyone would spend over £1,000 without seeing what they’re buying. I would encourage anyone to visit trainers, have a good look at the facilities and vehicles and meet the trainers and support staff before booking.
Got off the subject; all the best with your practical training and test.
Pete
I’m sure your guys will get me through. I’ve got the desire and you guys have the skills, my Achilles heel tends to be nerves.
All in all I’m looking to do C and C+E with you so will be spending a fair chunk of money but I honestly believe out of the trainers I contacted PSTT offered me the best value. If you hadn’t have been local I think I would have done a residential.
A lot of people I have spoken to seem to look for the cheapest option and yes whilst cost is always a consideration, this training is HOPEFULLY going to provide me with a career so I want to give myself the best start.
As a comparison I spoke to scania regarding training, and all I get out of them was a pdf price list, no call back and no interest. And they were more expensive to boot.
I’m 41 and always driven manual including C1s but I’m going auto for my C as it’s one less thing to worry about as a self funder. But maybe tempted to pay for an hours tuition after I pass in a split box!
When I had the assessment drive it felt pretty natural to use a manual. Knowing my luck it will spectacularly backfire!
I think when I take C+E I might opt for the auto option though
Well, less than a week to go until training starts now and I’m absolutely bricking it. In fact I think that may be an understatement. Feels like Ronnie Pickering is messing with my head!
Earlier readers may have seen that I opted to go down the route of a manual truck. I think this may be the reason I’m so ■■■■ nervous!
I’m not too concerned by the size of the vehicle itself, it felt pretty natural on the assessment drive and to be honest the gears didn’t flummox me that much. For whatever reason I now just feel a bit… Well…ARGH!
I’m hoping that on that day it’ll just come naturally to me, either that or watch out Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield!
Another thing concerning me is roundabouts. I know it sounds stupid but I’ve started questioning myself in the car as to wether I’m doing them properly every time haha. Wish I could get another quick drive in before training starts to settle myself but no chance of that.
Can anybody offer me any pearls of wisdom to try and settle the nerves?
Give yourself a slap with a wet fish morning and night…
Sounds like you are almost dying from anticipation more than anything - next you will be telling us how many ‘sleeps’ you have til you start
You’re just gonna have to chill and patiently await the start of the course.
Sure do some reading up, and ask a few questions but try to stop second guessing everything before it has actually happened.
As you mention, a lot will fall into place once you get started.
Oh and for goodness sake, start taking the Kalms now ready for your test day
GL,
Jon
I strongly suspect you are 100% correct!
It’s anticipation more than anything I think, the fun begins when I have to find a job right?!
Not being sarcastic, but everything you need to know about roundabouts is in the Highway Code! It’s amazing how few candidates actually look at this before starting a professional driving course
The only bit that is probably going to be treated differently is that, for straight ahead where there are 2 lanes, we use the left hand of what is available. (That isn’t set in stone, but it’s normally the easiest).
But it’s great to see someone so full of anticipation they’re gonna burst!
All the best with it, Pete

Believe me I’m sick of reading it haha it’s not that I don’t know what I’m doing I just keep doubting myself. Setting myself up for a fall with excitement haha
The Eve is finally upon me haha
Training starts at 7.30 in the morning. Hopefully my brain will wake up at the same time as I do!
All the best with it. You’ll be fine.
Pete
I hope so, or you may need a new rigid!
