It isn’t “have we done it”? but more like “Who saw you do it”? In my case it was the workshop foreman and fleet engineer. They wandered over and said quietly, " you wont do that again will you"?

I know some drivers dont like twingos but thats taking it to far!!!
not done it yet.
made plenty of other major ■■■■-ups though
main thing is, you kept your cool, and popped the red, straight back off, good thinking mate.
Been there done that, luckily i didnt hit anything.

Not quite that bad, but did once have a omigawd moment in the yard on a windy day. Just connecting up the suzies, looked up and realised we were all going backwards and getting faster. Yanked the red line off, and then realised that what I had seen was the trailer next to me moving off - I was not moving at all. Hadn’t heard the units engine as he pulled away for all the wind noise.
Big thing with the handbrake with me at the mo is on the ferry. I drive an MAN which has an alarm if you open the door with the handbrake off, but I have lost count of the times I have climbed out, locked the door and started to walk away, only to turn around, open up and climb in to check if I have put the brake on. Maybe its an OCD thing!!
No mate you are not alone, the no of times that i have gone back to double check on a ferry is in treble figures, but i would rather do that than come back to find that i had a senior moment and missed it in the rush for SeaChance Haute Cuisine

No, it was in our trailer park.
ive done similar things with a scania 4 series rigid, had to change the offside front slack adjuster, pulls motor up to garage door. thinking ill leave handbrake off and put it in gear. start to jack the cab up so i can get into it, get it half way up and i turn my back to it because it was one of them silentnight trucks with a pod on, i dont want to see that fall off its perch, next thing i hear air been dumped from near the gear box and the jacking bar was getting further away from me! babbed myself (Thats just knocked itself out of gear me thinks!) then a gentle jog round the moving truck, jump in and apply handbrake. truck only moved about 5 foot but still got the adrenaline pumping!
perfectly right mr Wheelnut
moral of the tale 1 if an experienced driver can do it we all can
moral of the tale 2 do red airline first, wait for reaction and if it dont roll continue with other susies
moral of the tale 3 get a truck with palm coupling they come off dead quick apparently
Went to Slough power station and my boss took second load, he went under canopy to tip first, PTO in, jumped out of motor and we started chattin then a gawd almighty crash bang wallop, he had`nt opened the back doors, 27tons of woodchip on a walking floor trailer dont take no prisoners, very messy. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone
Ive done it but luckily managed to get the red line off. I now without fail apply the trailer parking brake and always check it if someone else droped the trailer.
But i suppouse we all make mistakes sometimes.
I recently droped a trailer disconected the susies wound the legs down pulled off and was brought to a sudden halt by the hydraulic pipes for the ejector trailer.

I am always uber-cautious on the ferry too. The number of times I have heard on the tannoy “Would the owner of vehicle registration ABC 123 please return to the car deck (because you didn’t put your handbrake on and your car has spent the last hour and a half rolling backwards and forwards into the other two cars)”…
What struck me about this post was that I started about three artic-lengths behind the trailer I ended up hurtling towards, and I finally came to a halt the exact distance that you would stop behind the next truck on a DOCA ferry.
When I first started drving rigids I did a drop in a vilage in Derbyshire somewhere, I cant remember the name, only that it was on a hill!! I pulled up outside and jumped out, I went to lock the door and the entire thing started moving
, how I managed to get up into the truck and pull the handbrake on is beyond me!! From that day on I always checked the handbrake 2 maybe 3 times!!
Ive done but with an A-frame drawbar, backed upto the trailer with my mate watching me back, then clunk the pin dropped in so i snatched forward and she was locked in solid, jumps out of the cab to put trailer no plate on while my mate did the susies, just as i slid the plate into the holder the trailer moved off,but my mate was still stood besides the wagon,
■■■■!!! the handbrake was off, managed to run to cab and grab the brake on,lucky for me the yard only has a slight slope to it!!l
