Just to reinforce an important point. If there is a candidate who IMO will never be able to pass the test, I consider it immoral (and this is where my reputation comes in) to take him on as a “cash cow”.
I know of one trainer who, in the days of the gear exercise, never taught it. That way he would be almost sure of a retest and more income. I’m proud that I make NO money from retests - in fact they cost me money. That ensures the commitment to high training standards and the resulting (most of the time) very high pass rate.
Hope that clears it up - - perhaps you can see now why I was reluctant to get embroiled in this thread to start with!!! My own integrity and honesty can be a curse when it comes to public forums

Nicely cleared up there Peter, thats crystal now. Sounds like you want to start another thread on the system…

I would if I thought it might actually achieve something. But if you were to start it, I suppose I wouldn’t be able to stay quiet for long!!!
To all of you out there taking tests this week, I wish you the very best. Pete

Yes I suppose there is not much point debating the things we cannot change, I also feel that a debate of such an issue would possibly turn into one of the biggest shoot-outs ever seen on TNUK!!!
Mind you any such review of the system and what to do with it surely wouldn’t end with a change to the final test would it? There would still have to be an examination of some sort by an approved body so we would still back to square one with a test situation.
Oh yes, we weren’t going to start this…
And still no comeback from Flair Training on the 3 questions outstanding, come on, lets be having you.
Hello Mr Happy
You are obviosly keen to hear from me so why not.
My original point was to try and encourage Scott M who was clearly nervous preparing for his 4th attempt. Thankfully he passed. I did not and do not want to get involved in a major discussion about the rights and wrongs of having unlimited attempts.
Basically the LGV test is not particularly difficult to pass BUT very easy to fail.
Peter has provided most of the amswers here. He knows this game inside out as only a trainer of his experience can. Personally I have only been a trainer since 1983 so I am fairly new.
Your posts are some of the best I have read on this board and withour knowing your age or experience you do seem to care. Good assetts for a potential instructor BTW.
My only advice to you is to provide encouragement where possible. Nobody is perfect and many need help.
Good work Mr Happy
Regards
John

Ok, thanks for your input there, you don’t answer any of the questions asked however. I’m not sure what to make of your inital outburst now, perhaps you’d had a bad day. Anyway, I won’t ask you to answer them again but many thanks for your contribution to the thread.
