Know that road very well, that could well be the case, probably a vehicle overtaking another coming the other way as the road narrows sharply just before that point.

It was on the main A road stonehavan-Banchory just after a seriously tight u-bend I wasn’t really expecting either. Front n/s dropped in soft grass and I nearly had a heart attack

Could be but most likely just clipped the verge and unlucky it pulled him in.
Have noticed over the past few months on this stretch numerous ‘‘verge clips’’. - The fields and verges in this part of the country are saturated
Hauled silage from the fields on both sides round there this summer, you would think with it being an elevated area the ground would be quite firm but in fact the soil is mostly black peat and soft as sh@te big areas we just couldn’t get onto to lift and a lot of straw still lying unbaled. Field of uncut wholecrop maze just west of Carrutherstown sums soil conditions up round there.
