Most common cause of tyre blowout

He could be correct in the interpretation of the statistics, there are probably quite a few causes of blow out but I bet statistically they are more common at 56mph, the tyre would have less chance of blowing at 30mph. Ask yourself where do you see the most blowouts?? If you had an under inflated tyre and had to drive it you would take it steady, it wouldn’t blow just because it was under inflated but would more likely blow if you went faster and it got hotter.
Well I’ve managed almost managed to convince myself, how about you■■?

Not managed to convince me mate! . I totally understand your logic but my experience tells me different; I’ve had a handful of proper blowouts over the years and not one has been at high speed, they’ve all happened when the tyres have been under most stress ie fully loaded and turning tightly at roundabouts, junctions etc.

Touch wood I’ve not had one for donkeys years. They were commonplace in the 80’s and 90’s so I assume that tyre technology has moved on since then.

When was the last time you checked you"re tyre pressures ?. . . . thought not.

Blow outs were unheard of before they went pneumatic

I do it weekly. might just be the reason I had the last blowout 8 years ago.

I’d say under inflation
