Wheel Nut, £69 per day may equate to £8.62 per hour if you are working 8 hours per day. If you have ever done european work you would know that somewhere between 12 and 15 hours is closer to the norm which would make it less than the legal minimum wage. I wonder if they get paid for rest days taken in europe ?.

Toby1234abc said the most sensible thing at the beginning of this thread.

Most companies would expect the driver to reach Castets on the first shift from Quistreham and the Salamanca region by day two. or something quite similar.

From my last post, you probably missed a little injected sarcasm.

If they are paid £69 for rest days plus nights out every day then maybe the job is slightly acceptable to some.

But as already stated by someone else. We can only comment on the posted content of the thread, not conjecture

Is it not also the business of those who MIGHT be interested in the job? People such as the members of this board? I don’t know about you but the first things I want to know about a job are the money and the hours!

Those who MIGHT be interested in the job, would want to speak to the people who MIGHT be in a position to offer them a job. Rather than taking whatever they read on an internet forum as being their potential employers final word. Particularly when what has been stated has NOT been stated by the potential employer, but by another employee.
Toby gave a straight answer to correct some speculation, that was all. I doubt he does the hiring and firing and quite possibly doesn’t have the authority to say much more than he already has.

Why would a company discuss the details of their wage structure on an open forum anyway?
Bearing in mind that the only real variable in running a fleet of trucks is your wage structure.
The costs of running a wagon aren’t really that variable. Depending on the weight carried it costs a certain amount to travel 1,000km, with fairly fixed costs for maintenance, wear and tear and everything else. So discussing details of your wage structure on an open forum may well give your competition the edge they need to undercut you by just enough to take work off you.

Tobys father and his grandmother if im correct are the owners of D.Mortimer, hes not just another driver and probaly does have a say in whos hired or fired,he interviewed me when i went there for a job,a job i got,but didnt start due to some personal problems.
