More good news to make me proud

Following on from this thread, viewtopic.php?f=2&t=79757, when my oldest son passed his C+E I have had a call from my 20 year old son and he has within the last 30 minutes passed his C+E with 2 minors.

Three afternoons training, and the first one of them wasn’t even out on the road as the instructor said I know you can drive no problem so we’ll just concentrate on nailing the reverse and the coupling exercise. and a run round before his test so pretty good going. Same number of minors in this test as number 1 son but he has less minors than his older brother over all tests. It was the same examiner and he told my youngest he drove better than his brother so that will no doubt be brought up in the future. :stuck_out_tongue: One, or possibly both, of the minors was for not reacting quickly enough to a change in speed limit from 40 to NSL when a single carriageway became a dual.

Nice to see good news on here for a change! Well done to them both.

Thats bloody good going, well done to em both. :sunglasses:
Got mine first time around but that was in 91 when it was considerably easier than what it is now i suspect, pluss my ole man was paying and that gave me the extra impetus to pass first time.

Yeah, I got mine in 87 when I’m sure there was less to it than now. Plus I was paying so that gave me extra impetus.

My older son paid for this for Jack and he did say I’m only paying once which may or may not have assisted in the pass today. :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope he has written a clause into his contract that if he goes to Stobarts, he will have to pay every penny back with interest

Well done Master’s Hobbs

His C+E training, including the test fee, was £815 plus VAT. My older son’s was a little more because he had a Saturday test which is extra. Not sure what the C training cost.

I would be sceptical about the existence of a contract. :stuck_out_tongue: However, he does have Scottish blood in him so I expect the paying back and interest thing goes without saying.

Congratulations to your son on the pass.

I also passed 1st time. It’s a good feeling when you’re mates don’t… That probably sounds cruel, but sod 'em

Car 1st, Bus 2nd, Bike 3rd, C 1st, CE 1st. Not bad going.

Failed my bus 1st time for not beeping at a kid leaning on a railing when I was turning left :unamused:

Failed bike TWICE for speeding

Congrats to both them , and a proud daddy

Well done to them this industry needs young drivers, I hope they manage to gain employment.

I remember my test at Pontypool back in 89 with an old for cargo unit with the splitter taped up and a short single axle trailer, I got the impression I just scraped through.

Could I pass the test today? no chance!

Neil,

You and both of your sons have good reason to feel proud.

I’d like to add my congratualations to those you’ve received for Jack.

They aren’t joining this industry and they both have jobs. :stuck_out_tongue: Oldest is 27 tomorrow and youngest turned 20 last November and neither have been unemployed a day in their lives. Oldest left school at 16 and worked for various car dealerships until he started his own business about 5 years ago, he’d also been working for a small local garage since he was about 14. The youngest left school at 16 to go to college while working part time for his brother but kicked the college into touch and went full time after the first year. The two of them run the business and employ three drivers while I also work part time for him, one full day and two afternoons a week, but not driving. I was going to go full time but the main job I currently have is way too good to leave. :stuck_out_tongue:

Me neither.

Congrats to your sons its good to see youngsters with some get up and go

I have a question…seriously you can pass class one at 20;so is it 18 now?
And not so seriously…just how old were the minors :open_mouth:
