Mod 2 and 4 question

I’ve just got to my first CPC course, when my license was checked I was informed I should have done mod 2 and 4 when doing my training. Now I’m sure I was told at the time that I didnt need to. So I just wondered what the criteria was for either needing them or not ■■

I passed C on 30-9-10
I passed CE on 29-12-10
I passed car in 89 (I was told this was relevant )

Cheers

Someone else will confirm it I’m sure, but I think yes you should have done it. As you passed after 10/09/09.

This would also invalidate the first day of your dcpc that you just took. As it won’t count because of the lack of initial cpc.

F-reds

He passed his car in 89, so he would have had grandfather rights via his 7.5 tonne entitlement.

I’m sure pre 1997 B entitlement gave you C1.

Unless I’m wrong!

You have acquired/grandfather rights for dcpc so 35 hours required by 09/09/2014 to continue commercially after that date

dopey trainer needs retraining

as you passed your car test before jan 1997 then you have acquired rights as you will have C1 already on your licence, so NO you do not need to do mods 2 and 4 the trainer has miss informed you. :frowning:

She’s just told us we can’t have a break at the steering wheel as VOSA WILL fine you if they catch you :grimacing:

ask her has she ever driven anything bigger than her car commercially!!! that normally winds them right up

then ask her to show you in the regulations which she should have with her were it is written :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

you hear all these stories about trainer saying this and that, and these facts are completely wrong, if she continues to spout out incorrect information I would personally report her and the course, the only problem would be that the course might get invalidated so you would of wasted your time, might be better to just close your eyes and just get the hours for crap information :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

If this is true…that’s terrible info. to be given out by a trainer. Put it on the (supposedly) mandatory feedback form.

Also I agree with everyone else, providing you have minimum C1 entitlement you are eligible to do Periodic Training & CANNOT do Modules 2 & 4 (Initial DCPC training) - even if you wanted to!!!

Apparently she’s a class 1 driver of 4 years,
Told us that VOSA say take 50 minutes on digi just “in case”

I did tell her it was nonsense and asked where it states that and she said VOSA 26, to look in the index … Oh dear lord :unamused:

My bad.

What is VOSA 26■■? Does she maybe mean GV262? I wonder■■? Wow - I know I generally support DCPC - but in this case, well I’m astounded!!! She should at least get the basics right before ‘passing them on’.

She’s a Class One something but not a driver!!!

My error I meant to type 262

I’m not sure about this one tbh, is the CPC course counted as work?

She said yes if the course is paid for by your employer and no if you’re paying for it yourself !!

that ones been done to death on this forum harry had a letter from vosa in respect to the very question, what it boiled down too was: it didn’t matter who paid for the course, it was down to if you were being paid to attend or not, and if you could choose to attend or not :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Is DCPC training ‘other work’?

VOSA has clarified the question of whether or not drivers undergoing Driver CPC training need to record the activity as ‘other work’ for hours law purposes: “When a driver is being paid for attending Driver CPC training they will record the time as other work for drivers hours purposes and where the driver is not paid and is voluntarily attending the training then this will be treated as part of the driver’s rest period.”

It should be noted that the advice from VOSA makes it plain that the question of who is paying for the training is irrelevant: the distinction is whether or not the driver is being paid a wage to attend and whether his employer has ordered him to attend. If the answer to either question is yes, then the training should be recorded as ‘other work’
