Minor Collisions-Do You get Involved?

… things do happen with an increasing number of women drivers

That last statement has just proved what I always suspected, sexism doesn’t exist and truckers are the best drivers around :unamused:

Sorry I have to agree there are a hell of a lot of crap women drivers, normally too busy looking at themselves in the mirror or trying to control the brats they’ve failed to raise properly to pay attention to the road.

I would’ve stoppedhad it’ve been more serious, though it was a clear caseof white van man not watching what he was doing.

Would you have driven off if it had been your wife/partner in the car with or without your son? No, of course not…:

I’m disappointed it took 17 posts before we got the. “What if it was your loved ones/won’t someone think of the children” argument.

It was obviously coming, just surprised it took so long.

Yes .

i would only get involved if it was seriuos enough to warrent it someone just driving into back of someone at 5-10mph and both drivers get out and are ok then im not gonna waste my time

you didnt fix the quote. you missed the cheeky face at the end ie NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

unless of course someone chooses to take it seriously to suit themselves :unamused:

i only respect truckers and bikers because those 2 groups are well aware that their actions can have more serious consequences than other groups of road users and tend to drive/ride accordingly although they both do have their fair share of idiots too

Fit birds/damsels in distress I will help, bikers too. Depends on my mood for anyone else. Going to court as a witness though? No way.

A wee good turn I done once, sat at traffic lights in outside lane when a car skidded into the back of a car in inside lane. I looked across, a mini metro obviously nicked, he were boxed in with car behind at 2 sides and front. I lifted my foot from brake and rolled back leaving a gap for him. Off he roared into the distance. My good deed done for the day.

Few years ago I was sat on a break when a car overturned right in front of me . Young couple . I went to help and was there until the emergency services arrived . They were lucky and both escaped uninjured .

The girl never spoke to me apart from " get me outta this ■■■■■■■ car "

The bloke never spoke to me apart from " get me outta my ■■■■■■■ car "

I offered my details to the old bill who couldn’t of cared less . They never even took my name .

Both sets of parents also turned up not long after the ambulance and seemed more annoyed at the lad , who was now in the back of the police car , for ruining the car !!!

I’d like to say I wouldn’t help again after that , but if it looked serious enough I most likely would , thats the way I am I suppose .

But minor stuff …nah , CBA

I witnessed a 4x4 nudge a biker off his bike on a roundabout once. He skittered across the road and hit a kerb but he seemed okay.

By the time I parked safely a group of bystanders were trying to ‘help’ this guy by removing his helmet. I tried to stop them but even the biker wouldn’t listen.

I did a swift about turn and left them to it. No way I’m getting involved if the old fool wants to ■■■■■■■ himself with the help of his new mates.

I would have thought that having a young son yourself would have made you a little more considerate towards others - obviously not!

Would you have driven off if it had been your wife/partner in the car with or without your son? No, of course not…so why is this any different? It takes a couple of minutes to exchange details and it really does give the injured partner a helluva lot of peace of mind. It shouldn’t impact on your life at all so where’s the problem?

Anyone would’ve thought I was involved; Not my fault woman had no sense of road/vehicle width and WVM should’ve been watching what he was doing. If I’dve stopped there’d probably be a whinging woman with “the lorry made me stop, it was a narrow road and it shouldn’t be there, blah blah blah” :unamused:

did it once and i wouldnt do it again! the hassle and messing about i had when i was a witness to a minor bump , was summoned to court in exeter 270 miles ish from home , time off work, loss of earnings etc etc , and an hour before i was due to set off to drive down there the court rang me and said the date had been moved ! if i see something minor again my official answer will be " i never saw a thing officer"

Well we don’t know how much a day you earn, but had you attended this is what you might have got:

They wouldn’t expect you to travel 270 miles, attend the hearing, then drive back in one day, so its a 2 day/1 night event.

540 x .45p/mile (if you can show public transport would not be efficient, otherwise 25p/mile) = £243

Accommodation allowance £65 (sure you could find a B&B much less)

Subsistence £21

2 x £2.25 refreshments = £4.50

Other £5

2 x £67/day loss of earnings = £134

Total: £468.50 less fuel & accommodation.

.

Would anyone actually take a day’s holiday to attend a court hearing as a witness in a minor accident? I’m ■■■■■■ if I would…
