Saratoga:
Coates in Coventry / Leicester or Data Academy in Leicester. I’ve trained with both but I did my C+E with Mr Smythe up in Mansfield, but you might not like W&D…
Either way, good luck

What time tomorrow please because I use the test roads and want to make sure I stay well off them when you are testing !!!
PS - Halifax drive has been closed at the junction with the ring road for the past few days so I reckon they miight have to find somewhere else for the hill start

Old post but I passed my class 1 today with ATT in Hinckley just wanted to say it was a good experience and was very pleased with the training I received, would highly recommend

I’m on the lookout for recommended training centres right now (Cat C and C+E), and although I live literally just down the road from these guys (and it being less than a minute from where I did my motorcycle training), I didn’t even know they existed! That said, I haven’t ventured into the heart of Dodwells Bridge for years.
If you don’t mind me asking, could you write a little bit more about your experience with them? Which test centre / routes do they use? I’ve been seriously considering Data Academy, but you’ve definitely added another potential to the list so thanks for taking the time to post that up!

I did WnD with Pete Smythe and would also sing his praises.
I found it easier to get the category on my license taking the test with WnD. I then did 4 hours in an Artic without the pressure.
As Saratoga says, the DSA accredited site makes it a lot easier to pass as you use the same reverse area (and helpful markers) in training as in the test.
Mansfield Woodhouse is a fairly quiet area so makes learning a lot less stressful.
Also the pub where he provides complimentary bed and breakfast is very nice.
Give him a ring and he will happily show off the facilities to you as we’ll as tak ing you for a spin.
+1 excellent training and excellent results, from a very professional training centre & comfortable accommodation included in the package if required. C& E w & d , I went straight out in artic’s with no problem & no ‘extra hours’ practice in either, I had a clean pass first time pass C&E, it was well worth the travel to have the excellent training there for a great result, happy trucking

Hi sorry for the late reply and thanks for the congrats,
ATT use weedon test centre it’s normally 15min into Northampton 30min around town and 15min back, no real surprises well marked roads with plenty of signs,
Since passing my C about year and half ago I’ve only driven a sweeper which looks more like 7.5 ton and has no split gearbox, I started new job which were paying for my c+e and they booked me in for 2 days training mon/tue with a test 11.30 on weds.
As for the training received I had Kev he broke down the reverse using there own on site area and it soon came together, out on the road he made it all simple just shaking bad habits was the hard part. There was another trainee with me I felt it was good to watch as i think driving under instruction is tiresome and silly mistakes get made after a while.
Test day I felt I was more than ready and was having a nice drive until a set of lights turned amber and car mode kicked in and I went for it Fail! 8 minors 1 major.
The other guy passed on the Friday 2 minors, and my retest was the following tues 11.30 and was a pass 5 minors.another good point was the Volvo tractor unit old but very smooth and found every gear 4 over 4 and pulling a two axel rear steer trailer.
But if you local and thinking of using them pop in and have a chat if you can get there for 8am they will be setting up and trucks will be in the yard. Hope this helps.
