Mercedes 12 speed auto

Dav1d:
52mph sounds like it’s in autoeconomy mode tbh.

All our trucks are limited to 52mph to save fuel allegedly. What difference it actually makes I have no idea. But some end up being 56 if they are pulling double deckers etc after drivers complain or someone at repair centre puts them back to 56

As for pulling away from standstill in 1st, I’ve noticed all of ours do it until they’ve been running a bit then it seems the weight sensors pick a suitable gear and adjust accordingly

Definitely the case. Sorts itself out after a few junctions.

I’ve driven most of the modern boxes on the road and would rate the Merc box fairly highly. Probably on par with the Scania and whips the ■■■-Chronic.

Volvo will always be king though.

Drove an actros for a about a year at the last place I worked. Now drive a scania g450 at my current place. Scania has a far better auto box than the actros imo. Merc auto is about the same as the AS Tronic, although it has much better clutch control.
Can’t beat the Ishift like you say. I drove a 2005 Volvo fm when it was fairly new, and I reckon the auto box in that was better than what most other manufacturers can offer today. Why can’t anyone come close to making an auto like the ishift after all these years?
