Meanwhile, in a truck stop far, far away

Don’t they always use Welcome Break?

Burtonwood?

Sent using smoke and mirrors.

I’d say it’s over here? Looks awfully like a Poundland truck behind them.

Corley north bound.

Cardiff West

Struggling to think of somewhere with such a level parking area.

Sent using smoke and mirrors.

Woolley Edge southbound

Reccymech gets the cigar

Corley N/b it was. I think my truck was one of only about three or four UK trucks there when I stopped this afternoon. Everything else was East Europe. No problem with them as such, just surprised. I have not been in a services on a Saturday for years.

Do they chase them for parking fees? :grimacing:

Must have recently been resurfaced. Last time I was on there, it resembled the moon landings

I think Wabs have an account with them, they ram up all their sites, with their washing lines and satellite dishes

If they were parked like that, possibly yes. But you’re missing the point.

Its a while since Ive been into Reims Centre Routier, so things may have changed, but my last time there were a bunch of Stobarts in there; dropped trailers, units in trailer slots, precious few of them that I saw/heard in the restaurant. So maybe there`s a thread about foreigners blocking up the works on a French site with piccies of Stobbies? Yes, parking there is free, provided by the Chamber of Commerce, no laws broken, but seems to me a principle is here?

At least they pay parking, allowing the drivers to shower etc.
Unlike many.

Could be any truckstop in Europe I would have thought. I took these the last time I drove a year ago when I had a break at Waberers UK operating centre AKA ashford truckstop

Exactly the principle being that most Routiers are family businesses and make their money from the food so a car park full of lorries where the drivers don’t spend any money is no good for them. As well there is then no room in them for those of us who would spend money in there, last one I was in near Rennes a couple of weeks ago the owner came out in the late afternoon and kicked all the EE’s out and fair play to him he has a living to make.

Nothing against eastern Europeans (or any other nationality) but if the EU had it’s way and abolished cabotage restrictions then this would be a much more common sight in the years to come. Hopefully Brexit will mean Brexit, as Teresa May promises, and we might be able to save the UK transport industry.
