He was away 5 nights not sure on the hours. He’s happy with it. It’s a £100 pay rise for him.

when its busy and the work is coming your way its great however when its quiet and there is no work its crap ie your based up north and you do a collection due for felix if there is no work for you in felix its going on the train

they run very clean the money can be good 600/700 a week can be earned with plenty of overtime and maybe a sunday run out

£600-£700 for spending up to 144hrs a week imprisoned in a 8ft x 6ft rolling cell, being let out during that time only to get something to eat and go to the toilet/■■■ in a bag, giving up your weekend and not seeing home for another 6 days. Sod that.

Horses for courses? Some of us got deisel in the blood ,and some ain’t .

Giving up weekends? It has possibly changed since I left, but it was a Mon - Fri / Sat morning job.

Lots on here know my history and what went on, but in brief I finished on very bad terms, and I still consider them to be a decent employer and would recommend anyone to work for them if they’re ok Tramping - or nights.

+1 :sunglasses:

Pay rise for maritime drivers this week nearly 4% not massive but better then inflation every little helps and shows that the management occasionally think about the drivers.

Hi there can i ask a question please as you lot on this website know what your talking bout… im planning on taking my hgv training soon and would like to know how the salary is for a newly qualified driver? I work on the cranes at the dock at the.moment but we really want to make the move down to cornwall…im on 2k take home a month now. Is experience needed to earn around that on the lorrys? Thankyou

Not really, but a massive chunk of your life will be given to the company.

Cornwall and Devon aren’t the highest paying areas for HGV Drivers, and if you land a job the chances are you’ll be tramping, especially if you want to equal your current earnings.

There may be some other choices, bakery, frozen / chilled etc sometimes pay a higher rate for the hard work and unsociable hours, but you’d be home everyday.

Personally, I think you’re mad :grimacing:

Wayne beat me to it. Cornwall = poor wages. 4/5 nights a week tramping will net you around 450. Best firms but difficult to get on with will be tulip at bodmin or samworths at callington. Conway bailey etc might get you 500+ in the bank but expect weekends away and all sorts of other ■■■■■■ There will be exceptions but not many. Just as a soberer for you building yard work on decent hrs will be minimum wage. Good luck.
