Bought this months the two friggdfreight were great and George bennetts article not read more yet but was worth the cover price for that.
I usually buy both trucking and t&d every month, I just annoy myself by looking at the nice shinny V8s that’s for sale when I buy commercial motor.
Is the promotion going to be available to readers in the republic?
You can already save 35% on T&D subscription costs by signing up on the Commercial Motor website. No promo codes required.
TruckNet specific promo code and links now available here
Rikki-UK:
We have a decision from the powers that beWe will be offering a discounted subscription for TruckNet members and those who use our Facebook and twitter pages
If enough take it up we will keep it going but to be viable enough have to take advantage of it - if enough dont then it will go, we simply cant give the stuff away
The links and promo codes will go up next week, it is vital that you use the correct promo code so I can show that offering it via TruckNet is being taken up as opposed to other sources. The discount will be in the region of 35% to get this, a subscription for the year needs to be taken out.- we cant do it for individual issues
The offer will be for available Truck & Driver, Commercial Motor and Motor Transport- the first one being the one we expect most will want, but you can take up more than one offer if you wish… just be sure to use the correct promo codes if asked ( most online links we set up will do it automaticaly - but if you do it by phone please use the right one).
How long will the ‘trial’ be on for? It needs to be at least a year to give those who have recently renewed their subscription through other means the opportunity to take advantage of the TN offer.

It will be for over 12 months as it is renewals as well as new subscriptions we will be looking at- the online price next year will depend on how many subscribe this year, It will be slightly cheaper than at the shows but without the Goody bag
What about an iPad app? “trucking” do one and I subscribed. If “truck and driver” did one I would subscribe to that as well.

Yep, had the new K series Cat shovel in and we’re shopping for a couole of new ones…
i dont like to wait till i get home to get my copy so i buy truck&driver as soon as i see it in the shop
Rikki-UK:
As Mark knows i have been doing truck tests for a few years for the magazines
- you dont just to get to drive the truck, you have a “minder” from the manufacturer who will criticise every time you attempt to drive outside what they feel is correct
- on every such drive the minders report back on the testers- if you are not felt to be driving their vehicle in the best light- you dont get the chance to drive one again
I did a rather scathing report on a certain light tipper and the day after it went into print I was removed from their e-mail list and have never had an invite back to do a test drive on any of their vehicles since.
We get round that by “borrowing” operators vehicles, and then the manufacturers complain that they havent been able to prepare the vehicles for test and therefore the trial wasnt valid

I can say hand on heart that I have never been told/asked to tone down or amend my thoughts on a truck by T&D or CM in case we upset the advertisers- if its not good we will say so
That’s why motor manufacturers hate Clarkson as well then.

Spoke and met with " the powers that be " about this many moons ago now, never got off the first floor, truck & driver seems to have gone backwards instead of forwards the last few years in my opinion, (not bitter about losing my slot with the new editor at all inserted here ) . I have a review of my ebook in the latest edition but I haven’t seen it yet so maybe i’ll change my opinion after reading it, but seriously I found the magazine has no online presence, type in truck and driver and all you get is a subscription page, its all branded commercial motor , which is slightly misleading because historically that is a trade magazine brand and not instantly recognisable as a drivers companion.Technology plays a massive part in most truck drivers lives and most drivers have many innovative ways of making the working day slightly easier, whether its with tv signals , inverters or just a few bungee straps keeping the water bottle strapped down.
Apps and sat navs have changed truck driving but are very rarely covered in the magazine but still feature heavily in the forums. I wonder if the right people are actually reading these forums , Rikki knows this but his own “Powers that be comment” shows us that even he has little faith in the bosses knowing what most of us want or need in a magazine
wonders if ill get a review for the 2nd book , out soon by the way !! ha
Problem with subscription for me is it would probably arrive on a Mon when I’ve already left for work for the week, so would have probably read most of it standing in the News Agent before I get to my copy on Fri or Sat. It then becomes a bit of a waste really.
The problem with subscribing to any magazine is you get the mag even when there’s not much of interest. Buying in a shop you can look through and put back if necessary.
