M training diary

I managed to pass this morning
Only 2 minors which was undue hesitation an use of speed which was approaching a roundabout but it’s a pass.
Huge thanks to Dave at Peter Smythes

Thanks for the support everyone
To be honest I had no confidence this morning, I travelled down last night on the bike after a 12 hour shift got to the hotel at 10.30pm worn out didn’t sleep well, and meet up with Dave just after 10 this morning.
We started off with him asking me a few of the show me tell me questions and my mind was blank. …
After a few mins of him talking through things it all started coming back.
I soon settled into driving and we did a few route’s on the way to the test centre, I was still very nervous when the test started but managed to calm down and relax soon enough.
I had already planned on talking things slowly even if it meant a couple of minors for hesitation, it seemed to work and traffic was good to me too.
On reflection peterborough is a difficult place to learn in a hgv as there are far too many roundabouts a lot of them are also blind so visibility can be an issue, also a lot of the roads are narrow to a point where you have to be very careful with oncoming traffic, there are a lot of overhanging branches which can be an issue when doing the stopping on the left (didn’t damage the truck tho Pete lol) the branches and shrubs also cover a lot of the signs up which is hard for a non yokel like me
Having said that it gives you some good experience for the real world and the type of scenarios you will encounter as a driver, I have already booked my C+E for the end of next month with Dave again at peterborough and im already looking forward to it
Thanks.

I am starting me C+E training with Peter Smythe at peterborough in the morning with test on Wednesday. I’m looking forward to it the worries I had with the C lessons ie gearbox, have gone.
Will let you all know how I get on.

All the best with it,

Pete

Good luck with it ! I start my cat c tommorow and can’t wait just to get on with it !.

I passed my C+E this morning
Only 2 minors which were

  1. Coupling up,I left a bit too much of a gap between truck and trailor so he marked it down.
  2. My left turn, approaching a roundabout after him saying carry straight on unless i tell you otherwise or signs dictate, there were 3 exits straight on and right were weight limits and i approached in the wrong lane which was for straight on and right. Luckily i saw my mistake and as there were no vehicles at all i indicated left and moved over. Think my brain had turned to mush lol
    But a pass is a pass; )

Well done, congrats.
