a good picture of the old girl, but not me driving. i started for john when dave paulton left. victoria pulled better the more weight you had on, i loaded out of derby with cigarette filters for plovdiv, when i went over the weighbridge in dover we were 45.5 ton, we were plated for 32 ton, slight overload. that trip i ran down with steady eddie, dai blunt and ithink dave chamberlain. they soon left me behind every morning but by the time the first kettle was boiled at the breakfast stop i would roll up. after victoria idrove the MAN for a while but hated it with a passion, so john swapped , he drove the MAN and i had erfula. B269 KLV , with the 14 litre big cam ■■■■■■■ and the eaton twin split . that truck never let me down to when i finished when john died. Victoria had changed colour when i drove her, she was either grey or dark blue, but i can’t remember which. my memory is terrible i blame the efes

Hi Badger, you didn’t reload from a pottery in the Plovdiv area did you ?.
I once delivered part of a Massey Ferguson combine harvester to The Plovdiv International Agricultural Fair which I loaded at Browns Lane in Coventry.
I was then told to reload from a pottery in a little village which was not too far away from Plovdiv. It was an M.and S. Shipping load and I.M.H.O. it was the biggest load of crap that I think I ever carried.
It consisted of about twelve tons of pots, plates, cups etc and I asked them had they any freebees for the driver ( like you did ). They gave me a free tea pot which looked quite nice but while I was admiring it the spout fell off.
I delivered the consignment to a warehouse in London somewhere on the south side of The Thames and I asked who would want to buy such a load of rubbish like the things that I had just delivered. He reckoned that they couldn’t get enough of the stuff as soon as it comes in he said it goes straight out.
Apparently all these very cheap tacky items went to fairgrounds and souvenir shops in places like Southend and Clacton. I often wondered if these were the prizes or the targets on the rifle range .

john once rewired a scania with a leyland wiring loom, half way up a turkish mountain. when they got the lorry back to england it was put into scania to be repaired properly and they said they couldn’t improve on it, and offered john a job on the spot
