Lost Wiper Blade

robroy:
On the other hand, well done for using a bit of old style initiative, just as many of us would have done instead of modern day transport [zb] ing about.
Proper driver. :sunglasses:

Why thank you my good man.
I grew up in a farming background and if my dad or grandpa thought I had sat about for nearly 2 hours waiting on someone to come out and fit a poxy wiper blade they’d turn in their graves!

Conor:
the plastic clip that’s supposed to go further up the arm isn’t put in place so eventually they fall off.

It was the plastic clip that was the problem but it had broken. Where the blade clips into it, one of the side parts that it clicks into had broken off.
What I cant figure out is how the blade managed to come clean off when the bracket was still attached to the arm!

Btw, don’t suppose it was a 2015+ DAF CF?

It was indeed!
Pretty common fault then I presume?

Did you contact Nadia or Roddy? Get a defect number tut tut…

I had the same thing happen to a Gist truck earlier this year. I’ll tell you what the problem is. The bloody fitters don’t alter the wiper arm on the splines therefore it is going past the furthest point of travel off the screen to your right. The friction of it hitting the edge of the screen twice with each ‘wipe’ is enough to eventually dislodge it and throw it off.

When it happened to me I did as you did but had the nearside arm pointing out (like a spear) so as not to scratch the screen. Zulu !!

What makes you think it was Gist?

Good that you got yourself going. I reckon that most coppers/ministry men would have overlooked it as it had only just happened. When I was a youngster there were plenty of lorries, eg: Leyland, Albion, AEC etc that came out of the factory with only one wiper. I’d guess the reg’s have been updated since then.

Lot been updated since then-not always for the better. Still got 3 half empty log books waiting to be filled

Ha ha, proper driver.
