Yes Gary did work in the garage he now works for Scania here at Nursling, here is a pic of him when he worked for me.

Regards Pat

Hello Pat , Gary worked at SRF for a few years i think he was still there when i was driving for them in the late 90s .

Hello all im new here and im finding these forums very interesting . Im looking for pictures of Sea Route Ferry trucks i worked there from 96 to 02 when it closed its doors for the last time .

The main reason though is my Dad worked there for about 30 years and really misses the days at sea route i also remember the old 111s they had years ago when i was a kid . My dad Ray Marrow was based at the manchester depo .

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the site, if you look on Long Departed Southampton thread you will find some Sea Route pics there. Good days working for Andre and the rest of the team.
Pat (ainacs) will know most of the Heywood lads.
Regards
Richard

Thanks Maggie i will have a look through and see what i can find .

Heres a couple of shots i had lying around from when i worked on the Ashland contract at Sea Route back in 2002 . The pictures were taken on the Isle of Sky i went to Carbost once a month with Hydrocloric Acid for the distillery . Not long after Sea Route liquidated .

An SRFK trailer that I was loaned one weekend to move house from Cornwall to Fareham. Thanks Eric! My son Michael waiting to load up.

Here are a few for you Lee

The Scania 110 I bought from the late Brian Oliver of Manchester

Oh very nice got my Dads on the first two . I dont know why but those Kangaroos looked real good after the refurbs . That last pic Pat is an old one i see your pulling one of the old BO 60s .

My Dad also had one of those left hookers which he hated he got it after ACG 724V it was reregistered SCR 366S , painted in like a crimson blue with a silver cheat line . I will never forget it overheating going over birdlip with 22 ton of whiskey on … Personally i think my dad was trying to kill it

Hi Lee got a pic of Sea Route’s SCR 400S that I ended up with!

Is that one of the shunters that used to run out of Portsmouth docks up to Eastleigh i think it used to be red and the other was green … I think

Hi Lee

I saw Tony Eldridge today and he gave me a couple of pics to put on here

The man himself (middle of pic) taking delivery of these 4 L reg I think Scania’s

Hi Lee

I seem to remember that this was a Scania 110 that John Compton bought from Sea Route Ferry

I think the reg was MAA 35M or N?? Can’t quite make it out!

Does your dad recognise the number?

Hi again Lee

Marc (Bubbleman) has put me right with his slightly clearer pic

As you can see the reg is HAA 354N

Thats a nice shot of the L regs . How was Tony hope he was well . I will ask around about that M reg , i think they had two Ms at srf .

Hi Lee weren’t those boxes BO40’s?

Incidentally I still have the remains of 3 of those boxes in my yard at Nursling, one was the old fitters canteen from just inside the gate at Eastleigh the other two are on the floor for storage. I will look tomorrow if I remember and see if there any numbers on them!

Here you go Pat BO 62 loading at ICI Heywood late 70s , i just know the guy as Billy one drop , My dads beast just off pic

HAA 354N was a Southampton motor , my dad seems to think Frank Evans had this one but hes not 100% sure as they had two Ns starting HAA
