Hi Charlie looks Italian to me is that Horace Ransomes Scania 141 with an STS Tilt?

Pity the pics is not bigger!!!

Hi Pat.No,that was my old 111 I drove for Horace.PHO86P.Did a few Ks in that.The photo was taken in Beaune Transports
old yard before they moved to the new one next to the auturoute.Sorry about the size.Is there anything I can do to enlarge them?
Regards Charlie :laughing: :laughing:

Hello Pat
Just out of curiosity what size engines did the 1 series Scanias have in them?110,111,140,141.What was the difference between a 110 & 111 140 & 141.I seem to remember the first 2 numbers being size in litres of the engine and the last number being the spec■■?
Regards Jacko.

Hi All
Jako thats the rule of thumb on the liters
Pat yes Mick did drive for Crisp & Iam sure the British Crane Hire Corporation was part of the same group thats why the cranes were also in the yard.

R. K. Crisp were part of British Crane Hire as I had a mate who was on the cranes at Rotherham and the transport side was run from Birmingham area and their “Guys” had the big ■■■■■■■ and jake brake as I had a few lifts from Southampton up to brum with them

Hi Charlie,
Well done, the reason the pics are small is you forgot to ask for a “plus” like you used to do ! :blush: :blush:

Pat, saw Mick Leech on the M27 with his new truck today, very smart, didn’t Justin Kelly drive for R K Crisp at one time ?

Regards
Richard

Cheers Rich had a feeling that was right about the liters.I should have made it clearer.What BHP were the Scanias.The Volvo 88/89 were they 240/290 BHP? Just wondered how the Scanias compared.

Hi Jacko as has been said the 110/111/112/113 all had straight 6 11 litre engines

The 140/141/142/143 all had V8 14 litre engines

As regards BHP I think they were as follows;
110 = 250bhp,
111 = 285bhp(Dutch spec 305bhp)
112 non intercooled = 305bhp,
112 intercooled = 330bhp
113 intercooled = 360bhp
113 intercooled EDC (electronic diesel control) = 380bhp

140 = 350bhp
141 = 375bhp
142 non intercooled = 388bhp
142 intercooled = 420bhp
143 intercooled = 450bhp
143 intercooled EDC = up to 470/500bhp

Jako
88 were 230/240/290
89 were 330 i think when ive got 5mins i will look them up
Also can you put your see through fog goggles on & load some of these lorries especially the shiney blue DAFs please lol lol :laughing:

Hiya… just looked in the observer book and we,ve got a chrome grill 270 bhp…8 speed box… 38gcw.
John

Hi John
Looking at the Volvo plate on our Stainless grill 1973 F88 it says 230 BHP & thats where I got my information from.
The grills are Stainless not chrome thats why they dont go rusty & so many are still around
