Awrite Tone, got a new motor. Where you bin u not posted for a while.
Yeh Buzzer, picked up the new Volvo on Friday afternoon.
Obviously a better lorry than the MAN but nowhere near as much storage space.
Should lose weight now cos the fridge in the Volvo is not within reach as it was in the MAN.
The auto box is better, engine bigger and bunk more comfortable although not as wide.
I dont get excited about ,em these days though, just a working tool.
Pulling one of those bloody splitter trailers tomorrow with a couple of local boxes, Trowbridge then Membury,
then someone else will have it for the rest of the week while i attend my ADR course in Woolpit.
Went to Gaydon today, to look at all the old Lorries,
Meet Jimski (nice to meet You) whose models are even better in real life.
Top day out for any enthuiast for the real thing or models.
regards
Jeremy

Trowbridge then Membury,
Ah…Membury Tone…not THE Membury that we all loved and hated in equal amounts ? if it is, that’ll brings back a few memories…
The very same place Dave, well same estate anyway.
No more ISR rubber there now though.
Must be a few years ago since we used to load those stillages aye mate.

Did’nt go to Membury much as Whitehorns had that sown up, i nearly always went to Yatesbury Tone. I remember loading there in the early 70’s for PBC european aka Franky Alan with a old round cab AEC with a Park Royal handbuilt cab and a 37ft trailer,we had some crackin gear on there in them days, another M.H. moment
Well did have another call Friday at about 4.30pm regarding my broadband again an Indian lady who was very nice but no help atall!!
Finally agreed that there is a fault on the line but an engineer can’t come out till Thursday!!!
Anyway can anyone guess who this Tony Brady munchkin look alike who came in last Friday is?

If i remember Johnny Compton had a scanny painted parrot ■■■■ green, it looked worse than Windebanks used to. He used to work for Jack Fecit at Solent Shipping a bit, as they both hailed from Redlynch near Downton.
Do you know what he’s up to nowadays Pat ?
GAZ IOW…Good to see you back on here mate.Hope all is well.
Buzzer…There,s a photo of that Scania you mentioned of Johns way back in
the archives somewhere.
Johns doing boxes now with a tidy red topline Scania rigid.
Reckon i,m gonna gain another stone in weight this week.
In B & B at Elmswell nr. Woolpit. Full english this morning, plate of sarnies and rolls lunchtime
at work ( ADR course ),and tonight home made steak pie and all the trimmings followed by home made
rice pudding with a dollop of home made jam. I cant move…and i,ve got a few days to go yet.

You be careful Mappo, if you stay there to long there wont be any good reason for that ADR cos ur be overweight on the frount axle before you start.

Hey Buzzer…here’s a pic of S.O.M loading at Yatesbury in the '70’s probably for Glasgow.
Can’t remember the name of the manager, nice guy, bald head…I do remember he appeared on a TV talent show, playing spoons, on his head…funny the things you remember…and forget…

Hi I was sent this pic of a local Scania 80 anyone remember Trench Transport?Regards Pat
Pat…That wagon looks vaguely familiar…I think I may have owned it for a while.
If it is the one I’m thinking about, it had 2 fuel big tanks fitted, cost a fortune to fill it up, even in those days. Bought it off Princes, the guy was an O/D and px’d it for a Volvo. It turned out to be a bloody nightmare…gear box, cylinder heads, brakes, only thing was, it was comfortable after a Seddon !! Didn’t keep it long, bought an F88 after that…

I do Buzzer, they were ISR’s main contractor…Micky Mouse Fodens ( two stroke’s I think ) and 33’ Boden trailers when I knew them. Can’t remember any of the names of the drivers, but they were always happy to give you a hand sheeting up in the high winds. Membury was the same, old WW2 bomber base, on top of a hill, middle of no where…desolate place…
Do you recall George and John on the weighbridge at Membury ? George could be a right git, but John was a nice guy, often got a cup of tea off him…if George wasn’t there !!!
Monty was on contract at ISR with Henry Smithers for quite some time, he’d know all the guys on Summerfields / ISR. What was the name of the contractor at Yatesbury ? cream / green wagons, was it Symes of Calne ?
