Trying to keep this Southampton thread going anyone remember these Maggies? They were eight wheel tippers but you could take off the tipper body as it was on twist locks and then you could load a 20’ Container, don’t think the idea ever took off!!!

McGregor Cory sold their Southampton office trucks etc but not the Maggies to Jimmy Alford.

Regards Pat

Eve Pat, the only thing i remember about McGregor Cory was Taymix bought a load of Sed Atcks from them back in the early 80’s, i had one of them the reg was HAA 717S and all the Taymix trucks had names this one became DIPLOMAT just like Eddie Stobart trucks do now… Sad i know but it was catchy.
Hey Pat do you remember this Herbert ■■?

Hi SB139 Looks like Barry Evans to me !
Regards MaggieD

Spot on MaggieD, Still trying to work out who you are■■? PM Me

I designed the same system for my drawbars with demount bodies at Toray. Thought I might use them during the nightime running Evergreen containers to Felix for Stanton Iron & Concrete works. Never seemed convenient though and the wagons never saw a container on board. :unamused:

Hi you lot could have been earney bignal on sticks after his misshap in italy but i thought he was in a wheel chair.

Yes Kev that is Black Barry he did a couple of spells with me was good as gold for about 2 months then never stopped moaning, I saw him about 6 weeks ago when he was in the Knight’s Cross at Baddesley and then the Tavern in Romsey he wasn’t very well (sick) from drink! I think that he lost his HGV from having blackouts, he has got a small black box van Transit I think doing parcels!

Regards Pat

Yeah Black Barry, Was that John Pikes old motor in the photo■■? I Have not seen barry for about 4 yrs, he was working for John Ward driving a blue space cab Daf. Sorry to hear he lost his brief… Getting the hang of these pics now , But all my Compton ones have been removed and not sure why??
