hi all. About 15/20 years ago i walked into a pub in Rhayader in mid Wales up in the Elan valley. Got talking to the landlord ask me where i was from to cut a very long story short when i walked into the pub he was on the phone turned out he was talking to Harry the hat he was in an earlier life a fitter that did Armstrong’s truck’s in Southampton can’t remember his name but a nice feller. As for Nick not seen him for a while yes he did have a Globetrotter do P&O containers in Nursling and Chris can’t remember his other name he was doing the Buckfast wine up to London for bottling don’t know what he is up to now though.

That Buckfast job was a cracker. Load red wine in France (was it Frontignan?), tip at the Abbey, reload finished product to take to London for bottling. I only did it once, but the “works canteen” in Devon still is a memory.

Hi John, yes, we’re both well thanks, and you and the boss too I trust.
We’re on the move mate, so busy packing, the house isn’t too bad, but the garage, that’s whats going to take the time, moved the old Fergie from the hanger ( large shed to those that don’t know) to friends about 5 kms up the road…he’s got a hanger we’d all like, you could get at least 4 lorries with trailers, and at least another 4 tractor units and still have enough room to tilt all the cabs…jealous or what !!
So yes, the old girl is tucked up for a few weeks, along with a few nice classic cars. We’ve got it bad here, but not as bad as the UK, hope all your animals are OK…
Take care John.
Hi All
Nick Vosper has retired but still nips into SWT who used to care for his lorries from time to time
Cheers
Rich

The Greatbridge Rd Railway bridge’s magnetic attraction
Greatbridge Rd railway bridge has yet again attracted a customer .This month’s(yesterday) is a container laden Scania
One a month for the last few month’s, any interest or enthusiasm for a “Guess the make driven by this month’s moron” competition ?

Looks like one of Avery’s doing the recovery bit a firm I have used and very efficient and not over expensive company, I went under that bridge yesterday on my way to Cirencester cattle market a bit of a deviation as the M3 was shut because of an accident. My truck is quite low but I noticed they have a pre bridge parapet steel protector but suppose that is necessary with the amount of trucks that hit it. Back in the 80’s I used the road twice a day running ISR rubber to old Yatesbury airfield run by Sym’s of Calne back then so we knew every bump and pothole that’s for sure but not so many trucks on it nowadays, Buzzer.
John and Chris
only a few years ago the bridge was marked 14’ 9" on the Romsey side but 14’ 3" on Budds lane side, Go Figure■■?
But a tilt at 4mtrs will set off the flashing lights

Think Averys do quite well out of that bridge they seem to get all the jobs
