Thanks Kerbut, R.I.P Matty he was a nice fella, I kind of always felt sorry for him, and dunno why? But yeah was a nice old boy.

Hi Bev, now, I’ve heard mappo called many things over the 50 years I’ve known him, most are un-printable and un-suitable on a forum like this, however, a “diamond” isn’t one of them, think he’s more of a “brick”
:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
So after 50 years on the road you deserve retirement, in a few months you’ll wonder how you ever managed to fit work in…if you find yourself bored, come over here, I’ll keep you busy, tree cutting, log splitting, fencing, hedge cutting, a Fergie, mowers, cars and motorbikes to maintain…after lunch I’ll find you summit else to do… :unamused:

The late Harry the Hat… with his new motor…

Nice looking outfit that Maggie, what was the advantage weight wise over an artic Pat, any idea? Looks awfully long, must have been legal l guess.

Dave & Pat
the Maggie TCR 7 T was 1st use running to Italy with 23 tonnes rubber 10 on unit then loaded balance on trl which was dropped at docks by a tractor like Armstrong used to do?
Phil drake drove later doing Ranks work as was brilliant at reversing it, I drove it when He was on holiday I did get it in everywhere I went but very slowly & a few shunts later.
The ERF was the first 38 tonner A 813■■ OOT driven by Fred (Ken Fredricks) & LTS 25 was the 1st tautliner converted from a tilt wasn’t quite long or wide emough when doing witbread work as had to put plts under plts so the overlapped where the pillars were to be able to close them
regards
Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy, so running at 38t in europe, as you said, like Armstrongs. It may have been slightly easier to reverse with the double bogie on the trailer as opposed to Armstrongs single axle, got into a fair pickle backing those up in the yard sometimes…

Hi Dave and all,
I posted this photo on here ages ago, but as we,re on the subject of draw bars, :unamused: :unamused:

I drove this for a while for my then brother in law for Southern pallets.
It was initially a nightmare to reverse.but I did get used to it.
Not too much lock and slowly was the order of the day.

Hi Tone, hope you’re keeping well mate.
Didn’t know you’d driven a wagon and drag, …was that load of pallets handball then ?.. :unamused:

Got anymore photo’s of it ?

While we’re on roadtrains. Monty somewhere in France loading wine…

And a French one doing the same work…

Hya Dave, sadly that’s the only pic I ever took of it.
That particular load was fork lifted on though occasionally I did load handball.
Used to carry 600 standard pallets compared to the 500 a 40 footer would take.
I used to be as fit as a fiddle in those days.

Hi Dave

Not sure about weight but didn’t they have a lot more floor space than an artic■■?

T Hunt transport brings back memories, seem to remenber green Bedford TK/KMs, used to call at their warehouse to collect plywood as they were agents for (I think) Denny, Mott & Dixon, when I worked for New Milton Timber Company in the 60s.
