Hi Jim

I too remember The Southerner on the corner of the High St, I think the regular DJ was Nick Anthony and yes they did have an assortment of all sized gogo dancers!

I also remember seeing Rick Wakeman in there having a drink, I think that Yes were performing at the old Gaumont!!!

Hi Jim just found these two answers to your question!

The word probably go’s back to time before you were born, maybe.
A Tilt is a fitted canvas cover to convert a flat bed or more usually a drop-side lorry into a van type body, the lorry would be fitted with metal or wooden frame and a shaped canvas cover would be pulled over the frame and tied down at the bottom edge.
Source(s):
How do I know, in my youngers years I work for a company that made and fitted Tilt Covers and I drove lorries fitted with a Tilt Cover.

A ‘tilt’ is any canvas or canopy used to cover an otherwise open boat, booth, or trailer of a lorry.

The word (in this context) has it’s origins from the 15th century Old English word “teld”, meaning ‘tent’ and the Danish “telt”, which was small canopy or awning extended over the sternsheets of a boat.

Regards Pat

There you go Jimmer as you would expect Pat got the answer for you, but can you sus this next poser ?
