I thought the wage you got paid was to do the job you were employed to do, ie drive a bus for £x / hr…

Isn’t an hour still an hour during the games, if anything I’d think they’d do less work due to congestion etc.

It’s not like bus driving up here where you handle money, change, weekly tickets and things, they just drive.

Wrong.

+1, why should bus drivers not get paid a bonus■■? train drivers are and trust me they do not deserve a bonus the train drivers … I hope for one that the buses do screw up the olympics if they do not get a bonus …

I believe drivers coming from others parts of country should get a small bonus nowhere near what they are getting purely on the basis of travelling time etc accomodation will be paid for so why give them extra for doing what they are trained to do drive buses not like they doing anything extra other than working and staying away from home.

Disagree,

Drivers from up north are coming down for extra money no doubt being put up by the company so not paying london rents etc … Drivers from up north will need to be type trained do route learning etc. London bus drivers deserve the bonus!!

Money is available for an Olympic bonus for London bus workers, Boris Johnson revealed today

Now stop your ■■■■■■■■ and do the job you’re already PAID to do :unamused:

Oh, if the money’s ok, expect to see me driving a bus down there for a few weeks

The offer made available was about £200 for every bus driver not the £500 asked for…

Looks like the strike is being stopped for the most part. Will they still get their bonus ?

Saratoga - the Olympics bonus is one thing but what do London bus drivers really want? They are already the best paid in the country. Do they want the same 42k salary train drivers get?

After driving busses, I agree that they’re seriously underpaid compared to train and tram drivers, more to deal with, traffic, passengers, speed and traffic light cameras whilst dealing with the above etc.
BUT, you agree to a wage to do a job, if you don’t like it, do like I did and get out.

Lets not forget London bus drivers are the best paid in the country with normal rates of up to £14 an hour. Extra payments are made for rest day work and doing the nightbuses. Outside of London a typical bus driver is likely to get around £9 an hour and has to deal with money and lots of different types of tickets, not to mention driving on faster roads outside of towns whereas London bus drivers are lucky to do 30 mph.

I’m a london bus driver.

I don’t agree with the idea that we should get a bonus for working during the olympics, we don’t get paid less when it’s quiet, IE, school holidays, however…

If tube/train/DLR drivers are getting a bonus, then so should we.
The above drivers have zero contact with the public, so I can’t understand why they are getting a bonus.

However, if the train/tube/DLR drivers are getting a bonus, then the platform/ticket office staff should get a bonus as well, after all, they are the ones that are dealing with the public direct.

If anyone is due a bonus during the Olympics, it is probably the bus drivers, but I bet i will still get sent into London with a truck during this time, and i won’t be getting anything other than higher blood pressure!
