Lock Down in the UK ? Is it enough?

Considering the freedom we’re all used to across Europe, I’m sure the various governments can’t really believe the level of complacence, I believe the UK Government were planning on a figure of 75% complying with the restrictions. I personally am both pleased as I feel it was necessary action, but concerned at the precedent it sets.

Whether this level can be kept up in the longer term I doubt it, I think there will be a point where people just start returning to normal, so before that happens we need another plan, for me, without an effective treatment or vaccine, the only way out seems to be mass testing, but it would have to be in the millions a week and the UK seems to be struggling with the 10 of thousands a week at the moment, I think France has ramped up a bit from a poor start, but nowhere near enough to pin this thing down.

Testing, yes, plus using the results from those tests constructively.
If someone is tested positive it is best to know who their recent close contacts were, and ask them to isolate until tested. This will mean limiting, as much as possible, close contacts, and getting acceptance of anonymised tracking via phone apps or whatever.
I know a lot object to tracking, but I reckon it could be a good tool to enable more freedom of movement earlier. A subject for debate, I’m sure.

I believe the plan is for an app on your phone telling you you’ve been near an infected person. They say it would be anonymous and as we know the government already has the capability to track you via your mobile phone signal, (leading to various conspiracy theories, but also the conviction of some rather nasty criminal types) but I’d want to see details of the scheme, as I said in my previous post, I see precedents being set and once set very difficult to change.

South Korea has such a scheme I think?
Learn from them, and tweek it to suit us?
.
Edit.
As I understand it the app does not record where you have been. It does record when you have been within Wi-Fi range of other app equipped phones. You Choose to put app on phone and can remove it too.
Covert tracking is IMHO a red herring.
That might be installed without any need for theses apps.

Seems France forgot about Calais and its jungle camp full with migrants, when it proposed a lockdown. seems theyre free to do what they want, as everyday theyre landing on our beeches along the south coast, in dinghies they bought and paid for, with no money because theyre destitute, and possibly using a contract phone they cannot afford, whilst wearing the latest addidas trainers /jackets and T shirts…Oh how i wish our border force could take them back to whence they came, be it the middle east, or France as we paid them lots of cash to stop this happening, not that they give a ■■■■ anyway, as its a way to bid them aurevoir.

And the figures still don’t look good :frowning: :frowning:
