went from 32.38.44tonne never had any more £s for driving the things per hour…

Didn’t realise you were paying the fuel bill , assume your an owner driver then ?

retired i think is what its called had a few in my day…

I was under the impression that 1000 litres of water weighed approx 1 tonne ie 1000 kg

so 1 IBC weighs 1000 kg
600 kg of bagged sand weighs 600 kg

hows that work then ?

cheers Mike

I wondered that as well but this is the DSA !!!

Perhaps someone at the DSA thinks a tonne of feathers is lighter than a tonne of coal …

Think they may have offered the option of IBC for lgv training companies that also do b+e to save them buying sand as well as IBC

I would of thought bulk bag sand would be a more stable load to carry.

If I put a min of 10,000kg on my C training trucks they will be overloaded.
Or have I got the wrong end of the stick on this?

Got it wrong 5000kg 5x IBC , vehicle needs to be a minimum of 10000kg with this load on , so as long as your cat c vehicle weighs 5 t unladen minimum your fine .

Yeah got it now been a long day.

DSA clearer version to save any confusion.

Seems a while since anybody posted on this subject so just wondering as time is almost upon us :open_mouth: Hows the prep going?

I have my IBC’s in place and ready to load. 8 for the artic and 5 for the rigid.
I am however in two minds what to do with the B+E trailer.
I’m thinking of checking out the aggregates in sealed bags and looking for ideas. Possibly 12 bags of 50kg spread over the floor of my 8x5 trailer floor would meet the requirement, also it would keep the load spread even and low for a better ride :bulb:

Any thoughts :unamused:

Loading this week.

Just a bit of a inconvenience to us trainers but probably inevitable that training costs will rise a little. Can’t see much differnce in the handling of the vehicles with basically half laden trucks. More traction tho.

Did you really write that? A half loaded lorry behaves very differently to an empty one in my experience. Also depending on what it’s loaded with ( liquids for example) it would behave very differently. An empty milk tanker has very made me sea sick a half loaded one has

Tbh from previous experience when putting a similar load on my 18ton Atego for its MOT test you can’t really notice the weight much. I suppose each vehicle will vary depending on size and power of the truck

Will be interesting to see comments from other trainers when loaded.
