Like riding a bike?

I was off for twenty years. Got made redundant and signed up with an agency. I actually had very little experience but I didn’t tell them that.

The first job was at a firm in Worcester starting at 6 pm. I spent an hour sitting in the canteen and then got called into the office and was told I was going to Sheffield. The guy gave me the paperwork and some keys; then asked: “Have you driven a twin splitter?” I had absolutely no idea what he meant so I said I hadn’t.

He called a passing driver over and told him to show me. That guy was great - he was actually their trainer and assumed that I was used to driving a normal 4 over 4 and showed me how the TS worked. I crept out of the yard and after a few clangs, got the hang of it. The worst part was driving up the M42 in dark and the pouring rain.
