Lights, Lights & More Lights

as you say DS074 better to ask than trawl
especially as the search related feature is tiresome and not that good. allways getting page expired and having to start all over again with the same keywords

IMHO when you go to start a new topic you always think, some of the longer term members will probably :unamused: when they see the topic as its probably been flogged to death a trillion times, but i agree its easier to ask than to trawl through 300 pages, as sometimes you might get new reply’s from new members giving their own point of view, but hey ho life goes on. :exclamation:

However i did see one topic was revived from 2005, and i do believe it was about lights, no doubt MR VAIN will know as i think (but dont quote me) he commented on the year.

with the page expired press F5 and it brings the page back up for you, and i agree the search is’nt the best in the world but it does the job.

regards

James

the web site ask the police says it is illegal only if they flash

There were always a lot of flashing light on sale in the Turkish truckstops and almost every eastern European car carries a magnetic blue flashing light

It only goes to prove that most of the stories about displaying blue lights mean you are a gay man must be true.

it is illegal to use a orange beacon IF travelling over 25MPH, although the police ignore this for Wide / heavy loads.
Half the folk run with them on for nothing, caravans should have marker boards lighten up.

erm i dont think this can be right? we’ve got a extendable low loader and when its stretched to take a 40ft over height flat rack we’re supposed to have beacons front and back, i cant see that we’re not allowed to exceed 25pmh/■■/■■? :open_mouth:  :open_mouth:  weather the police ignor it or not.

The Department is proposing to amend RVLR to allow abnormal load ■■■■■■ vehicles to use amber warning beacons at speeds in excess of 25 mph while escorting abnormal loads. This will only apply to ■■■■■■ vehicles that are clearly identifiable by their livery and markings.

Any other vehicles being used for ■■■■■■ purposes will still only be able to use an amber beacon below 25 mph, as at present. However, for editorial reasons, the proposed amendment will move the speed restriction from Regulation 11(2)(ix), which controls the fitting of an amber beacon, to Regulation 27, which controls its use.

The amendment will also make clear that the beacons may only be lit while the ■■■■■■ vehicle is being used to ■■■■■■ another vehicle.

for the last two nights ive seen the same truck going north on the M6, and all i can say is he must be lost. Blackpool is miles away. even his seats have lights around the edges like a sort of piping effect. :open_mouth:

i do like to see trucks that are well kept. but with most its a case of OTT!

as for the flashing amber lights?

as someone who works nights only, i can tell you they are nothing but a royal pain in the rear!! most “wide loads” are moving at the same speed you are, most have an ■■■■■■ with even more flashing lights!! and when its a stretch of unlit motorway all it does is destract you!! and you have a job to get past.

if you think your a hazzard: you shouldnt be moving on the road. flashing amber lights should only be used if you are stopped. dont care weather its law or not. should be common sense.

but as with all the trucks done up with fairy lights, on their way to Blackpool, might as well just put a sign on that says:
“Look at Me! am here!!!”

Well if you ever see a Sprinter van with blue markers on the front, extra red ones at the rear plus reflectiver marker boards on the bottom of the rear doors, thats me or the girlfriend!
Oh and my trailer has at least 6 red rear lights + rear reflective marker boards!

Thanks for the responses

very en"light"ening
