Lift Axles on Tractor Units

In Norway most tag axles are twin wheels and they call a tag with single wheels a “Poor Mans Tag.” Only they say it in Norwegen of course, that was the translation I got.

Wheel Nut:
IYou cant run at 44t on 5 axles

I don’t mean to be pedantic :unamused: , but you can. 6x2 unit with 2 trailer axles. The trailer axles must be 1.5 meters apart and on air with a plated bogie weight of 21 tonnes. The unit also needs to be taxed at the 44 tonne-5 axle rate (class d i think) and costs £1850. Blue Circle run some older powder tankers in this configuration, giving them the maximum payload of around + - 32.5 tonnes, but the margin to allow for axle overloads is very narrow. :sunglasses:

why do them 8 axle container things ALWAYS run with 2 or more in the air■■?

Because you only need 6 axles for 44t. They have the extra axles to split the trailer down to deliver half size boxes.

Would that be ‘puur manz taag’ in the native tongue then?

It could well have been because it all sounded the same to me.
