if i was on hours or whatever then i would still be cracking on to a reasonable degree.
i dont need to impress any pointy shoe,i just do the job to suit myself which in general terms means ignore any speed limit to whatever degree i think is sensible and safe for the time of day and road conditions.
theres millions of us similar to myself with the only lunatic being the driver overtaking you.
its something that seldom happens to me,but if im toodling along nicely and someone want to shake the bushes flat lit, then ive no probs assisting them past me and letting then get where they want to go.
in general terms any boat traffic into cairnryan reaches carlisle within a few mins of each other with only one or two legal eagle plobbers being the exception.
every single docking is the exact same, though its more fun at night.

No your rushing about and breaking speed limits because you think your a hero to your transport manager who gives you more work than what can legally be done but you break speed limits and get it done. Your transport manager doesn’t really give a toss about you so your getting your self wound up and risking points on your licence for no reason.

you could not be more wrong in all aspects of that.
nearly everything i do is at my own agreed rate that varies depending on whats involved hence when i do work ,which is as and when im called and want to be available, then im basically working for myself and to suit myself as theres seldom any instance to be checked on or chased up.
the job pays what it pays whether its 1 day or 1 week which suits me fine.
apart from a trip this side of new year which will entail a generous duty free depending how much space is at the back doors ( not including the 2 bunks) then il most likely not work till mabey mid feb or march ,though if i get a pleading phone call offering a fortune then i might let myself be tempted.
i like doing the job the way that suits me and i enjoy the craic of the boat traffic plus keeping my eye in at the same time.
it never fails to amuse taking the elbows off the 90k plodders.each to their own.
ive always worked the same way,and i drive my cars in a similar fashion when im not working…
I suppose it depends on how far you have to go. I am quite happy going 60 down the motorway on the way home, but then again I’m never going that far to work. I do think that it isn’t right to have trucks overtaking when in the car though.

instant cure to that problem mate…stop dawdling and drive faster…
There should be a minimum speed limit for cars on motorways. The UK is the only country I know in which trucks overtake cars.

You should go to Australia, trucks overtaking cars is very much the norm. Trucks about twice the length of UK ones normally

What problem, they don’t overtake me going 60.
