Lidl's new RDC Southampton

Due to open shorty, so while I’m not certain, this AGENCY advert is probably for them:
jobsearch.direct.gov.uk/GetJob. … D=33671719

4 on 4 off rolling shifts paying £128 PAYE per shift, with overtime on top…

Not sure what the overtime rate is or when it kicks in, but doesn’t look too bad if that sort of work floats your boat!

Strangely there isn’t any requirement for drivers on Lidl’s jobsite, but again I don’t know how they employee their drivers.
It’s not for me, but thought I’d mention it in case others in the area are monitoring Lidl’s website alone…

I have to confess that I’m surprised that they haven’t advertised for drivers as yet, as I’d guess they are going to need quite a few.
Do they think they are going to suddenly appear by magic, and be worth employing?

If thats for a 9 or 10 hour shift max and anything approaching a 12 hour stint pushing that up to £150+, they won’t need to advertise cos the good blokes currently being dry shafted by the £8 odd an hour mobs will be beating a path to their door soon enough.

If i was looking i’d be approaching Lidl and Aldi direct, and avoiding the agency.
It doesn’t matter how many say ‘‘they only recruit via whatever means’’, when you show a bit of polite nous you get noticed.

Mind you, how can a 4on 4off be rolling?, not being pedantic just wondering, when i did 4on/off in the 80’s the shifts were writ in stone, your shift falls on Christmas night (newspapers) you worked Christmas night…mind you the pay for that night was staggering.

I thought Lidl used outside haulage for their store deliveries. Did I get that wrong?

I thought DHL did all their deliveries ?

Seen a few adverts recently. They’re opening a new RDC at J9 of the M6 and that within commuting distance from me so been keeping an eye on it. Seen nothing advertised but others ads for drivers have said it’s £142.80 for a 12 hour shift 4 on 4 off which equates to £11.90 straight through. This was via agency though, ADR Network.

Not sure if DHL employ direct or do 100% agency like JLR.

It’s not, it says £128 PAYE based on 12 hours. Plus the magical £1 for LTD.

One born every minute though … :unamused:

Quite probably…
Then there are the star times which will probably be all over the place.
Couple that with being stood down without a moments notice and you’re on to a winner!

Place I’ve been working at on agency for a couple of years apparently have 7 or 8 regular drivers that applied for full time positions months ago, presumably agency ad is to fill any gaps/ holidays/ etc.?

They are only just finishing build it mate, so no current existing staff.
I guess they may have some coming from somewhere else, but not sure they would stick it out if commuting…

DHL have the contract for Lidl store deliveries. And i know that Allinsons,NDL and RET subby out of the Newton Aycliffe RDC.

You’re correct, it is Lidl’s new place, Expert are one of the main agencies.
Ltd co. pay rate is £142.80 per shift which equates to £17.85 per hour for 8 hours   or £9.52 for 15 hours
There is no overtime rate, where the advert says overtime available this is usually extra shifts
I usually do between 10 & 12 hours on average.
If you’re interested don’t waste your time looking on Lidl’s site as they don’t have trucks or employ drivers, it’s agency only.
Although it is possible for UK drivers to work at Lidl, most tend to be EE drivers.

If I see any of the drivers that are supposed to have applied tomorrow will ask if they’ve gone via this agency of not. Done shop deliveries before and not interested to do them again, have been rather hoping that the right position/ shift pattern opens up for me if/ when some leave.

I emailed HR at lidl for wednesbury and they said they are only going to use outside drivers not full timers, which is a bugger as I can see it being built from the house lol walk it in 10 mins

They must be on a uk wide rdc building programme, a new (bigger) one is being built a few miles from the Livingston one (Eurocentral area I think). Always thought it was subbies that do the store deliveries of which the main ones always seem to be looking for drivers anyway, not everyone’s cup of tea!

DHL do a lot of their stores, do you know if they imply direct or is it 100% agency like JLR ?

And seeing as you’re a Walsallist, have you seen that video knocking around Facebook of some dirty old Indian being chased round the street by a ■■■■■■ down Karma coz he would only give her £2

I used to work near the bridge over the train tracks on the main road from the Motorway to the shops and there was a cafe on the corner. We’d go in there in the morning as the ladies of the night were finishing off. You’d want them to pay you they were so rough :astonished:

Scabby Prozzer
