Always throught the TM looked very modern compared to some of the other motors around the same time.0
Morning all,
That André Marmeth TM I recall as being a 6x4, purchased to work “Hors Code” as well as in Code @38 tonnes. Price was the reason, around 14% cheaper than the equivalent TRH Berliet/Renault offering, and that was a massive disparity in price at the time.
Just cannot remember the engine manufacturer, but I`m inclined to remember her as a totally GM vehicle. There was quite a lot of publicity around this lorry at the time. There always was when Marmeth purchased something new.
Very eclectic fleet Marmeth, some of their trailers were real odd balls, and would really make you stare.
Cheerio for now.
DEANB: The VOLVO F6 badge! Probably put on for the Turbo 6 bit underneath!
Saviem: If Marmeth were intending to use it on “hors code” work then I wouldn’t mind betting it was an 8V71 coupled to an Allison Auto transmission!
As for Marmeth being quirky, they had at least one GMC (Astro?) and possibly a MACK. Also wasn’t Marmeth written in luminous pink on the front of the tractors at some point?

Yes he seemed a bit keen that driver with the bling !!
Heres a few more hope they havent been on here before.
The green six wheeler is a tidy looking motor.
The photo of the green one about to mount the ramp has modern vehicles in the background, suggesting that it is in preservation. I found these, in my attempts to find more information on it:

Here’s the rest of the series of it getting up the ramp, amongst other things:

Anorak,
The attached photo is off an Italian web site and it says 2012
Bedford TM interior. Is that gear-stick (9-speed Fuller by the look of it) really on the passenger side of the central console? (!!). Robert
Ah! It appears to be an optical illusion, as I’ve just peeped at the picture in the previous but one post. Robert
Reckon that Domenichilli drawbar outfit under the palms, posted by DEANB might appeal to Carryfast . Robert

From an Ed Burrows article about Detroit engines in one of last year’s issues of TRUCKING mag. Robert
Interesting news from ‘Kmills’ on the Kent thread, who informs us that these Transvite TMs had ■■■■■■■ 290s with 9-speed Fullers in them, and that their RHD versions had the same driveline. That’s interesting because I believe this is the first evidence on this thread that some LHD TMs were fitted with this particular driveline. Robert

■■■■■■■ E290 for Bedford
THE TOPWEIGHT Bedford TM 3800 is now available with a ■■■■■■■ engine. Timed to coincide with the launch of the new Formula E290 engine. (see story below) the Bedford announcement has ended speculation that an alternative power unit to the two-stroke Detroit Diesel 8V-71 was on the way.
Because of the low-revving characteristics of the new ■■■■■■■■ a change of rear axle has been necessary.
The French-built SOMA hub-reduction design gives way to a single-reduction Rockwell, as the SOMA range does not include a high enough ratio. The ten-speed Spicer splitter box is retained, however.
Bedford has not yet built a chassis with the new ■■■■■■■ — all the installation design • work was done with the ‘old’ 290 — so no kerb weight figures are as yet, available.
However, the Detroit Diesel, at 1,090kg (2,3951b), is a very light engine, so the ■■■■■■■■ at 1,160kg (2,560Ib), is going to add a weight penalty.
There are no plans to offer any other engines in any other chassis at the moment.
And as we know, the Fuller was retained too! Robert

Nice! Robert
Always thought this was one of the best looking trucks (sorry, lorries) ever. if this had hit the market with Gardner/■■■■■■■■ fuller about 7 years earlier, they would have ruled our world!
UK hauliers would always have struggled with the Detroit, whatever it was in!

Here-here: I’m sorry I missed the opportunity to try one (with ■■■■■■■ and Fuller, of course)! Robert
