Excellent picture old mate! It looks like a test trailer and as the unit has no number plate perhaps it was on one of Bedford’s own tests. The quality of the picture hints at Peter Davies! Robert
It’s different from the normal run of the mill stuff.
Nice! Presumably a draw-bar outfit. Robert
That’s Carryfast’s dream lorry, the Scania V8 badge suggests a DD engine too, if it had a 40ft drawbar trailer it would be enough to send him over the cam lol

You’re right! And behold what it says on the headboard.

Picture the scene I’m the only one who applied for the job advert for a class 2 driver wanted to drive a Bedford because they all thought it was to drive a TK tipper.

I can see you now, Leatherhead’s version of Kris ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ sequentially shifting up and down the box cursing at all the Gardner drivers.

…who were making faster progress, through using the gearbox properly.
And not having to refill the tanks every couple of hundred miles…
…and having to ease up on that steep hill to let the ERF ‘European’ fly by. Ahem. Robert
Hope it hasn’t been posted already
That’s a new pic Fergie. Robert

Blimey that’s new information you mean there was a last of the line rigid with a big cam 400 option in it.

Blimey look on the bright side if I drove it anorak’s way it would run out before reaching Dover from Surrey.

No, just judicious use of the gears and a focus on torque rather than power!

Would that be the around 900 lb/ft max of the ■■■■■■■ v the around 1,100 + lb/ft of the Detroit assuming the one in the pic has been specced properly with the right 92T series not 71N motor.

Well now, of course if we were running together with similar loads for the same destination I’d sit behind you happily contemplating the pleasant and leisurely meal we’d be sharing at a favourite routier at about midday; sloshed down with plenty of vin de table to keep us content as we rolled down les routes nationale
in the sun-dappled afternoon. Naturally, if it was snowing hard we’d simply cancel and go on the ■■■■. Cheers CF! (■■■■■). Robert
